Our members are getting creative for our Annual Campaign! Two kids from our Tween Club after school program at the East Area Family YMCA had the innovative idea to make and sell bracelets/necklaces to help raise money for our association. So far, they have raised $122! They will be selling their crafts Monday evenings from 4:15- 5:30pm if you would like to show your support. We are so proud of our community and their efforts to uplift the Y!

The BYMOC Village Gathering at our Southwest YMCA branch on Friday was a success! The teens came together to learn about different programs and opportunities in the Syracuse area they can take advantage of. Several community leaders hosted tables to give information and advice! These gatherings provide a safe space for these young people to open up, share their stories, and make connections. During dinner, the teens listened to Rochester-area business leader Lance Drummond via Zoom and heard some motivational words of advice from Association Board of Directors member Kenyon Black. Elizabeth Malcolm Scheibel from the East Area Family YMCA advisory board shared information about the Army and what her inspiring experience was like serving in the military. Thank you to our board members for participating, everyone who attended, and those who showed their support!

This week on Monday was ERG Day! Our Employee Resource Group leaders set up tables across the association for staff to learn about resources the YMCA provides for employees. Our groups include the African American Resource Network (AARN), Disability ERG, queERG (LGBTQ+ ERG), and Women's Leadership Resource Network (WLRN). Employees got to come by to get their questions answered and build community with their coworkers!
