Last week was one worthy of a round-up. Started it with our heroic summer and out of school time directors for their professional and fellowship day in between summer and school year efforts (not many days buffer when you're supporting the needs of working families) to create a village, enrichment and development opportunities for thousands of young people in partnership with parents, guardians, and educators. And our special guest who is always on the ground seeing the work she leads and champions for the state so effectively, Amy Kershaw, updated and inspired our awesome crew and took questions on a range of topics. Later, represented our great workforce development and early ed teams as I stood next to another wonderful leader, partner, and corporate champion for early ed Lisa Murray, President of Citizens for the BBJ Corporate Philanthropy recognition of our launch of an Early Educator (earn while you Learn) Apprenticeship under the leadership of Maureen Augenstern-Dane. Also paired with a wage investment in our Early Educators supported by many in public and private to ensure supported onramp, growth and sustainability, and equity in this critical and need career pathway. And Sunday was a glorious day at Franklin Park for our 2nd Annual YMCA of Greater Boston Employee Appreciation Day as we closed our Centers and invited one and all with family and friends those who do so much to create community, welcoming, belonging and opportunity. Thanks to our committee for pulling it off beautifully and continuing to build the tradition. Here's my ump's view of the softball game.

We are pleased to welcome María Fernanda C. as our inaugural Chief People and Culture Officer! ?? María is a bilingual strategic leader, having held HR leadership positions across large-scale and multi-site organizations in the non-profit sector and government. She also brings on-the-ground familiarity with the Y, having served as a part-time group exercise instructor for years at our Wang Chinatown and Huntington Ave. centers. Before joining the YGB, María was Chief Human Resources Officer North Shore Community Health and is the former Manager of Policy, Employee Relations and Employee Engagement MassDOT. She is actively serving on the boards of Plummer Youth Promise, MATCH Charter Public School, and Casa Mariposa and volunteers with Latinos for Education and NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION FOR COLOMBIAN CHILDREN INC. María has a B.A. in Communications and International Affairs from Suffolk University, a master's in public administration from Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School Graduate Programs and holds a Leadership Certificate from the Institute of Non-Profit Practice affiliated with Tufts University and another certificate in Strategic Human Resources from Cornell University. Earlier this month, our colleagues were honored to present a grant of $90,000 to the YMCA of Greater Boston at their Credit for Life Fair that was hosted for over 200 of their teen employees. Last Friday, Fulcrum President Daryl Luter had the honor of attending the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the expansion of Mac Hall at the YMCA of Greater Boston Pleasant Valley Campground in Tuftonboro, NH! This meaningful project allows the entire girls’ camp to dine together on the same floor, fostering the strong sense of community central to the camp experience. The expansion also includes new bathrooms, ADA ramp access, and fire suppression systems, highlighting the camp’s commitment to camper well-being. A special thank you to the YMCA Team, Market Square Architects, Scalora Consulting Group, Trillium Engineering Group, AKF Group, BSC Group, and the numerous subcontractors who generously donated labor and materials. Through our collaboration, Fulcrum secured approximately $75,000 in donations for this project.
