A big project can take weeks / months to pull off. We prefer to work back to front, organizing materials by area. I have *a lot of ideas* of how the phases should be organized, so it's great when the homeowner brings in a contractor who's open to collaborating and getting different points of view. Because part of what we do during the design process is scope out the materials and confirm availability, we have good intel for the contractor when she/he is organizing the order of operations. One of the big challenges with a total front/back rehab is deciding where to put materials so that we're not wasting time and money playing tetris. Believe it or not... ???? The 3D design is just the first leg of the journey. Once the homeowner approves the scope and hires the team (a contractor to manage the entire project + YesPlease.GARDEN for installation/design support), then we get back in the dirt! If you know me, you know this is my happy place... seeing all the ideas turning real? Amazing. Every time. Maybe it's the time I spent working for the big paver company, but I can't let go of those roots. Getting the hardscape installed just right is my baby. Look at those curves on that path. I hesitate to call my own yard a "landscape," because it's more like a lab! I use my space to vet the CA Natives I'm recommending for my clients' projects. The effects of sun and heat are not to be taken lightly. You can't water your way through the sun/heat one-two punch. The plant can either take it (bc it's appropriately drought tolerant), or it's gonna rot if you overwater. But the confidence that comes from learning how these plants want to be placed and treated is not to be underrated. In fact, it's the whole reason I named my company "Yes Please GARDEN." 'Tis the season! no... not just for spooky treats and sugar hangovers! November is our month to reflect on the challenges and successes of 2024 and start laying plans for 2025. This has definitely been the year of implementing new tech at YesPlease.GARDEN, with some big learning and stretching required. We did all the hard work and late nights because we want better tools for our clients, more efficiencies for the back office, and better communication tools for the installers and crews at the job sites. The two biggest wins were the astonishingly great 3D modeling resources for our designs and implementing a CRM for client communications. But if we sat down for coffee, I'd probably pour out another dozen changes that make us stronger and more sophisticated going into 2025.
