关于我们
We conduct research and offer trainings that support people of all ages in developing emotional intelligence skills. We do this work because the well-being and sustainability of our society depends on each of us using our emotions wisely. As a self-supporting unit within the Yale School of Medicine’s Child Study Center, our research and training is funded primarily through foundation and federal grants, corporate support, training revenue, and philanthropists. Our research is conducted in collaboration with experts in education, psychology, policy, and technology. Our goal is to design effective approaches for supporting school communities in understanding the value of emotions, teaching the skills of emotional intelligence, and building and sustaining positive emotional climates in homes, schools, and workplaces. We provide training to educational leaders, teachers, and school staff to support the systemic implementation of SEL (social and emotional learning) and foster those skills in all stakeholders in these communities, including in families and out-of-school time. We test and refine each element of our work, with the goal of leveraging emotions to create healthier and more equitable, innovative, and compassionate communities.

The John Cooper School's holistic approach to emotional well-being is gaining national attention! By integrating Yale’s RULER model and partnering with Active Minds, Inc., they’re fostering emotional intelligence and mental health awareness. Recognized as a RULER Spotlight School, Cooper continues to set a standard for student well-being. Congratulations to Stephen M. Popp and Juan-Diego Estrada for their leadership and presentation at the National Association of Independent Schools Conference this year! https://lnkd.in/eTfPGFNm #EmotionalIntelligence #StudentWellBeing #RULER #EducationInnovation

Research shows that when people feel listened to, they feel less anxious, more self-aware, and have better clarity about attitudes on topics. Listen to how active listening can help others. https://lnkd.in/em8ZQq22 Dr. Marc Brackett Dr Alfiee Org #ActiveListening #CommunicationSkills #EmotionalIntelligence #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment

Teaching emotions strengthens language skills! Just ask Craig Bailey. His research found that preschoolers using RULER showed greater growth in early literacy—especially in vocabulary and phonological awareness. https://lnkd.in/eZcFN7ck #EarlyLiteracy #SocialEmotionalLearning #EducationResearch #ChildDevelopment #TeachingStrategies

Social and emotional learning isn’t just for children—it’s a skill set we develop across a lifetime. The new #ShapingUs Framework from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood provides a universal way to understand and nurture these skills at every stage of life. Dr. Marc Brackett, founding director of our Center, played a key role in shaping this framework and contributed a guest essay on why emotional development doesn’t stop in childhood—it continues to shape our relationships, health, and success throughout life. When we invest in emotional learning at every age, we create a healthier, more resilient society. We are delighted to see the publication of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood's Shaping Us Framework. The Framework describes core social and emotional skills in an accessible way, which everyone in society can use and understand – as the basis for action. Social and emotional development begins in early childhood, and this period provides a golden opportunity to nurture these skills – which then continue to grow throughout our lives. Getting this right could have a truly profound impact on the future of individuals, and society. #ShapingUs #EarlyChildhood https://lnkd.in/e_5BGuma
