Today, Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management, in collaboration with APS and our partner agencies, held a guided discussion on Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). Together, we are working to strengthen coordination, communication, and preparedness to better support communities that may be affected by a PSPS. Thank you to APS for hosting and providing lunch as we continue working as a team to keep our communities safe and prepared! #YavapaiCounty #EmergencyManagement #EmergencyPreparedness

Working to build a disaster-resilient community capable of responding and recovery from any disaster.
关于我们
The Office of Emergency Management is within the Public Works Division. Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management’s principle responsibilities are in supporting the safety of our citizens and visitors, protection of our infrastructure, as well as our environmental and cultural resources, and assisting in community recovery efforts after an incident occurs. This is accomplished through supporting response to “all hazard” incidents and special events and preparedness through planning, training, and exercise development. Priority is given to the area of mitigation (lessening the effect) of hazards in order to achieve disaster resilient communities, capable of responding to and recovering from any incident. Achieving this is only accomplished in cooperation and coordination with our first responder organizations, community groups and leaders, Yavapai County leadership and organizational partners, State level leadership and stakeholders, and finally the relationships with our Federal and National supporting organizations. Our work is focused on the following hazards: Natural Technological Man-Made Threats

We recently conducted a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) on Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) to strengthen operational communication, coordination, and overall preparedness across agencies and organizations that play a critical role in emergency response. A big thank you to APS for hosting us and providing food—we appreciate your support! This exercise brought together partners from across Yavapai County and beyond, including the American Red Cross, Arizona Department of Agriculture, Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, Chino Valley Police Department, Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical Authority, Department of Emergency & Military Affairs, Dignity Health, Groom Creek Fire, Lifeline Ambulance, New Horizons, Prescott Fire, Prescott Regional Communications Center, Town of Prescott Valley, Yavapai County COAD, Yavapai County Community Health Services, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe, and Large Animal Shelter and Emergency Readiness (LASER). Exercises like this are essential to refining response strategies, strengthening interagency coordination, and ensuring we are ready to work together when it matters most. After what has felt like a non-eventful winter, we finally got some snow! While it won’t stick around long with temperatures warming back up, this bit of winter weather was a welcome sight—especially as we look ahead to fire season. It’s hard to believe that just a month ago, we were dealing with wildfire evacuations. This brief return to winter serves as a reminder of how quickly conditions can change and the importance of staying prepared year-round. Enjoy the snow while it lasts, and drop your snow pics in the comments—we’d love to see them! ??? #YavapaiCounty #YavapaiReady #YavapaiWx #AzWx ?? Prescott
