Storytelling. I spend an extraordinary amount of time with my clients and partners helping them tell their stories – it’s not just about what’s changing, it’s about how the story of that change is told. And I believe that the best stories are crafted with three things in mind: perspective, audience, and simplicity. ? Bringing in a third-party or neutral perspective can be a game-changer. It’s incredible how an external view, even if they’re internal to your organization, can uncover clarity, challenge assumptions, and refine the story down to what truly matters. ? Understanding your audience is equally critical. Whether it's a C-suite leader, a front-line manager, or the entire workforce, tailoring the message to meet them where they are—both in language and relevance—ensures the message resonates. ? The most important piece to me is simplification, and it's also the hardest piece to address. As the storyteller, you need to separate from your own perspectives and context - while your audience will respond to what impacts their core concerns and goals. We’re not just checking a box with communications. Boiling down the message to its essence makes it memorable, actionable, and impactful. ? When done well, storytelling isn’t just a tool—it becomes the bridge between strategy and the people it will impact...the same people who will make it successful or sink the effort. What’s your take?
