The 2024 Lusaka Mobility Prediction Hackathon in Zambia, hosted by Zindi and powered by Yango Group, brought together over 200 data science enthusiasts to tackle urban mobility challenges using real-world traffic data. Held at the University of Lusaka, Unicaf campuses, and online, the event focused on predicting traffic patterns and understanding how weather impacts mobility in Lusaka. This hackathon is part of Yango’s ongoing commitment to supporting tech education and nurturing local talent through initiatives like the Yango Education Program and the Yango Fellowship Program. Yango Supports Health and Well-Being in #Ghana with Free Health Screenings! To close Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with Standout Care to provide free health screenings for over 400 Yango partner drivers, couriers, passengers, and their families at Accra’s Makola Market. This initiative included checks for breast cancer, prostate issues, and general health screenings, benefitting around 300 women and offering free medication for various ailments. Country Manager for Yango in Ghana, Tom Ofonime, shared, “We are committed to prioritizing health and well-being, especially for our partner drivers, couriers, and passengers. Early detection can make a life-saving difference.” This marks another step in our ongoing efforts to support the community, following recent initiatives like the Yango Education Program and driver safety training.
