A collaborative network of researchers at Yale and beyond, aiming to elucidate immune responses following infection.
关于我们
The Center aims to elucidate immune responses following infection by a variety of pathogens, with the goal of understanding how immune responses protect the host or harm the host depending on both the host-intrinsic (age, sex, genetics) and extrinsic (environment, diet, medication, income, education) parameters. The center will also investigate disease tolerance mechanisms for dealing with infectious pathogens to promote a better quality of life in patients suffering from chronic diseases.

Exciting new findings from the Yale CII, just posted on the pre-print server: Passive transfer of IgG from Long COVID patients recapitulates pain and other symptoms in mice. This study goes further to characterize the cross-reactivity of IgG towards neuronal tissues and it identifies candidate autoantigens using two independent unbiased screening approaches (HuProt & Mass Spec). A causal role of autoantibodies in driving symptoms in Long COVID is starting to emerge, illuminating a promising path for better therapies to address Long COVID. https://lnkd.in/e9A_TFuG Akiko Iwasaki Keyla Santos Guedes de Sá, PhD Gisele Rodrigues Bornali Bhattacharjee Rafael Bayarri Olmos Christopher Baker David Putrino Tamas Horvath Yansheng Liu Yale School of Medicine Ian Buell Mike Morrow CDILabs

Congratulations Akiko Iwasaki for this highly-deserved recognition ! Akiko is listed among the 100 most influential people of 2024 ?? “Her deep appreciation of the regulation of the human immune system has allowed her to lead the way in delineating the mechanisms of how it reacts to COVID-19, and the consequences of Long COVID. Her expertise in innate immunity—or how the immune system first reacts to pathogens—is providing key insights into Long COVID, validating patient experiences and informing treatment strategies.” https://lnkd.in/e8b7qXhR
