Congratulations to the JazzXR Team for receiving the Rothberg Build Fund?? ??JazzXR: A Virtual Reality Jazz Band for Physical Therapy JazzXR is an immersive extended reality (XR) tool designed to support patients recovering from total knee replacement surgery. Specifically targeting the pain, depression, and frustration that commonly arise around four weeks post-op, JazzXR offers a unique blend of psycho-physical therapy in a group setting. By addressing both physical and mental stressors, the platform enhances recovery outcomes. This Tuesday, we?hosted our Yale CBIT Clinical Pitch Night?at 101 College Street, New Haven?attracting over 130 attendees from across Yale’s campus including Yale School of Management, Yale School of Medicine, Yale School of Public Health and Yale University (Yale College),?highlighting the growing interest in breakthrough healthcare innovations emerging from the Yale community. The event, which serves as a platform for?fostering connections, aims to bring together clinicians, faculty, and students throughout Yale’s ecosystem to work on novel projects focused on solving greatest challenges in healthcare. Five clinical innovators presented?healthcare projects, showcasing six transformative innovations aimed at solving problems across various sectors of healthcare.? ? In addition to these featured projects, the event included an?open mic session, where four student innovators took the stage to present their own novel solutions. This portion of the evening provided students with an invaluable?opportunity?to share their work and engage with the larger healthcare community. ? Following the initial hour of presentations, the event transitioned into a networking hour, offering attendees the chance to engage directly with project teams, faculty, and fellow innovators all aimed at advancing the featured healthcare innovations. ? Presentations: Mathieu Bakhoum?MD PhD?presented a novel biomarker for cardiovascular disease using retinal imaging, with potential to enhance early diagnosis and guide management of cardiovascular conditions.?Dr.?Bakhoum?also?pitched a non-invasive diagnostic approach for detecting corneal ulcers using tear samples, reducing wait times and improving accuracy compared to traditional methods. Isibor Arhuidese?MD MPH?introduced an?app?that?aids surgeons in navigating complex coding scenarios, reducing revenue loss and improving operational efficiency. Antonio Giraldez PhD?unveiled advancements in mRNA therapies, focusing on improving tissue specificity and stability, which could revolutionize cancer and vaccine development. Ritujith Jayakrishnan?MD?detailed?an algorithmic solution to streamline the complex process of resident scheduling, reducing the workload on program directors. Jem Atillasoy, MD?showcased novel force-reduction technologies designed to prevent life-threatening injuries, such as commotio cordis in athletes, starting with a lacrosse chest protector. ?
