The map is finally complete!!! ?? ?? My AI regulation tracker finally covers all 195+ countries in the world (see the 'Visit my website' link). From the US to Andorra to Kyrgyzstan to Cameroon to Belize…every corner of the globe (including micro-states and islands) now has at least some profile or news update around AI policy or regulation. Obviously, some profiles will have more data than others. So the journey is far from over. Next steps will be consolidating and cleaning content, and expanding features. My tracker remains free and open for anyone to use. No login or registration required. Tracker is updated daily. English and Chinese versions available. Lots of similar trackers are popping up these days, which is awesome. So as one of the early movers, I'm focused on making my tracker as accessible and user-friendly as possible for the individual developers, entrepreneurs, researchers, teachers, students, etc around the world. On a more personal note, I've been running this side project for nearly 2 years (since my launch in June 2023). It's been a one-man project. All the design, coding, curation, writing, maintenance etc is done by myself. I don’t have any research team nor funding for this project. All in my own time and cost. In terms of process, the news curation is automated, but the content is written manually. Wait, manually??? That's right. Trust me, I've experimented with all kinds of LLMs, agents, Zapier workflows, etc. I've even built my own proprietary agent from scratch which could even be its own SaaS if I wanted to. At one point, I let the whole process run automatically (100% hands-off) and it worked quite reliably. But my brain retains content far better when I manually summarise by hand. I don’t think it's photographic memory (I'm not a Mike Ross or Magnus Carlsen), but my brain does tend to memorise everything that I type/write on my tracker. I lose this memory advantage when things are completely automated (where I'm only reading). And that has been my biggest gain from this project. The tracker has primarily been a notebook (or 'cheat-sheet') for me. The real tracker is in my brain. There are some deep patterns across the data which I can only mentally see in my head, and would love to build out new features to visualise this to you. So I like to keep things semi-automated for now. It's slower but meaningful to me. Other big personal takeaways throughout this project include: ?? Learning flags, geography, culture and history ?? Studying recommendation algos and agents at a mathematical/coding level ?? Reading on geopolitics ?? Connecting with people around the world through my tracker ?? Launching my own map building platform for the community to use (www[.]note2map[.]com) I've been documenting my journey too. ?? We're developing immersive embodied experiences using #VR to impress our brains and trigger behaviours. We're implanting #BCIs to sense brain activity and connect it to digital platforms. We're simulating our minds and cognitive processes developing increasingly complex #AI models. We're even cultivating living #organoids and growing them as mini-brains to study them at cell levels. Many research trajectories, but all converging towards the same next horizon of human discovery: our #brain. Our most intimate space, where our identity, behaviour, sociality and imagination coexist and mutually shape. And where probably the most complex aspect of reality could be found or approached: our #consciousness. All the aforementioned technologies often put our sense of humanity and #humanrights under pressure. It is actually up to us whether we will harness the?#crises?triggered by the wonders and disruptions of?#technology?to deepen our understanding of this final frontier constructively or passively accept the ongoing sense of inadequacy that comes with a world that feels increasingly unfamiliar and racing at an unmanageable speed for humans. #mind #emergintech
