In a new communication, the European Commission highlights the importance of establishing the "Union of Skills" aiming to support the development of quality, inclusive and adaptable #education, #training and #skills systems to increase the EU’s #competitiveness. As described in the document, the target fields of such competitive training effort includes a focus on Virtual Worlds and the expanding sector of #XR and #DigitalTwin solutions. ?? "A targeted number of academies will be rolled-out, building on the most successful models, to deliver the skills needed by industry for the green and digital transition and the Clean Industrial Deal. They should target strategic sectors such as defense, automotive, the circular economy, wind, grids, food, digital fields such as #AI, #Quantum, #VirtualWorlds and Semiconductors." ?? We're developing immersive embodied experiences using #VR to impress our brains and trigger behaviours. We're implanting #BCIs to sense brain activity and connect it to digital platforms. We're simulating our minds and cognitive processes developing increasingly complex #AI models. We're even cultivating living #organoids and growing them as mini-brains to study them at cell levels. Many research trajectories, but all converging towards the same next horizon of human discovery: our #brain. Our most intimate space, where our identity, behaviour, sociality and imagination coexist and mutually shape. And where probably the most complex aspect of reality could be found or approached: our #consciousness. All the aforementioned technologies often put our sense of humanity and #humanrights under pressure. It is actually up to us whether we will harness the?#crises?triggered by the wonders and disruptions of?#technology?to deepen our understanding of this final frontier constructively or passively accept the ongoing sense of inadequacy that comes with a world that feels increasingly unfamiliar and racing at an unmanageable speed for humans. #mind #emergintech

The European Commission High-Level Conference for Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds governance will start on March 31st and it will focus on establishing policy solutions for an ethical, value-driven shift to virtual worlds (including internet standards) and a technical, multi-stakeholder governance model for this shift to actually happen. Over 110 attendees from more than 80 private and public organisations attended an intensive day of policy discussions about?#virtualworlds. ??The Coalition's ecosystem continues to expand, bringing in new voices and expertise. Once again, for us it was an essential occasion to contribute to the future of the industry, sharing our perspectives and the topic we focus on: agile advocacy and responsible innovation in virtual worlds. ??
