Arvind Narayanan , a leading expert in computer science and technology policy, takes center stage as the Keynote Speaker for the Governance & Policy Lab at Metaverse Safety Week 2024! Arvind Narayanan is a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University. His groundbreaking contributions include leading the Princeton Web Transparency and Accountability Project, which exposed corporate practices in personal data collection and usage. Narayanan's research has unveiled how machine learning reflects cultural stereotypes and revealed the fundamental limits of data de-identification. Shaping the future of VR education! Monika Fuchs-Brantl an advocate for safe and inclusive virtual learning, joins the Youth Empowerment Lab at Metaverse Safety Week 2024! Monika Fuchs-Brantl is a Teacher at the Hospital School Vienna, dedicated to supporting children with special health needs. Her current research focuses on the interplay between sensory integration and virtual reality (VR), aiming to develop strategies for the safe and effective application of VR technology in educational settings. Monika’s work highlights both the opportunities and risks of VR immersion, especially for children. She explores the effects of disembodiment in VR, a phenomenon that impacts the brain’s cortex and poses unique challenges for young, developing minds.
