Multi-stage reasoning systems are AI applications that can handle complex tasks with accuracy, reliability, and in-depth results. Databricks, as an intelligence platform, offers a set of tools to help build these systems. ? The Foundation Model API provides access to state-of-the-art open GenAI models and allows easy integration of external models, such as Azure OpenAI GPT or AWS Bedrock. Databricks also offers DBRX Instruct, its own open-source large language model, fine-tuned for instruction-following tasks. ? Vector Search is another important tool. It offers the ability to store and search through vector representations of data. It is essential for the data retrieval component of any multi-stage reasoning system. Vector Search ensures low-latency, scalable searches with zero operational overhead. Real-time similarity search can be performed using the REST API and Python client. The built-in ACLs through Unity Catalog integration ensure that data remains secure and properly governed. ? The Mosaic AI Agent Framework provides tooling designed to help developers build and deploy high-quality GenAI applications. It makes it easy to: ??Evaluate the quality of RAG application ??Iterate quickly with the ability to test the hypothesis, and redeploy the application easily ??Have the appropriate governance and guardrails to ensure quality continuously ? MLflow Tracking allows logging, analyzing, and comparing different versions of GenAI applications. Main benefits include: ??Interactive trace visualizations to see how different versions perform. ??The ability to track the latency impact of different frameworks, chunk sizes, models, etc. ??Cost tracking by monitoring token usage. ? A standout feature is the Mosaic AI Agent Evaluation, which is designed to assess the performance of GenAI applications. It enables the measurement of quality, cost, and latency for both RAG systems and more complex AI workflows. ? MLflow Evaluation offers also the ability to compute and manage a wide range of performance metrics, ensuring that each iteration improves over the previous one. ? Model Serving is Databricks’ solution for serving custom AI chains and pipelines. It ensures that developers can easily deploy models. ?
