This week, dozens of women leaders across New York City gathered at our West Monroe New York office for an evening of networking, learning, and connection at our second annual NYC Executive Women's Forum. The event created a collaborative space for industry experts across Financial Services, Energy, Healthcare, and more to share insights and benchmark approaches to today’s emerging business challenges. The top takeaways of the night included:? ? ?AI governance and workforce training are essential to the success of any AI initiative, serving as key factors in ensuring sustainable and responsible outcomes.?? ? Terms like "hallucinations" and "prompt engineering" have now officially entered the business lexicon, reflecting the growing influence of AI in shaping modern industry practices. A special thank you to our panelists — Dr. Bilyana Lilly, Board of Directors of RunSafe Security Inc.; Swati Mathai, CEO of XO Health Inc.; Gillian D. Francis, Co-Founder of Rapid Ventures; and our very own Betsy Soehren Jones as moderator for the evening.

With only 8% of patients in academic sites and 4% in community sites on clinical trials, what can we do to increase access and enrollment? It’s a question that panelists at #AVBCC2024 explored during this morning’s session, “Evolution of Clinical Trial: So What’s Happening?” One topic that generated a lot of conversation was the idea of democratizing clinical trials. Some of the panel's ideas included streamlining information so it’s easier for providers to process quickly, better communication between the academic medical centers conducting the trials and the community-based practices, creating a collaborative culture among all stakeholders, taking an innovative approach to study designs, and adopting the idea that every patient is a research patient. Summarizing the conversation, moderator Howard Kraft, XO Health’s SVP of Market Engagement, shared the following: “All of us are absolutely committed to getting the best care for each individual in an equitable fashion. This requires a full-court press in change management…a culture change across all stakeholders.” #Cancer #ValueBasedCancerCare #HealthcareLeaders #OncologyCare #HealthcarePolicy #ValueBasedCare #AVBCC #OncologySummit #HealthcareConference

It’s unacceptable not to offer adequate access and affordable coverage to address the mental health crisis facing our country and specifically our youth. XO Health’s Francois de Brantes puts it perfectly: It’s time that we all hold ourselves accountable. ? XO Health plans?address all aspects of care, both physical and mental, ensuring all parts of member health are fully supported.?It’s not just the right thing to do – it is the the only way to effectively move the needle on members’ overall health,?ensuring the best outcomes and the lowest total cost of care. ? #MentalHealth #BehavioralHealth #Parity #EmployerHealth

    Innovative Health Care Industry Leader

One of the factors leading to a lower average mortality age in the United States is a higher rate of mortality for those under 19. That's entirely driven by a significant increase in mental and behavioral health conditions that are leading to death by overdose and suicide. It's very literally an existential crisis for the U.S. because it's jeopardizing the future of the country which entirely rests in the hands of the generations born since the turn of this century. Patrick J. Kennedy's new book, Profiles in Mental Health Courage (more info at The Kennedy Forum) illustrates starkly and vividly the challenges and opportunities. One such opportunity is to demand true Parity. Think of it as the Parity PACT. Parity in Payment. Parity in Access. Parity in Coverage. Parity in Treatment. There is absolutely no reason why any employer -- including the many municipalities and school systems around the country who simply don't cover mental or behavioral care -- would object to the Parity PACT. Why should a child's asthma care be better paid for than anxiety or depression? Why should it be more difficult for that child to find and get care for anxiety and depression than asthma? And if they get the care, why should they have a harder time getting the treatment they need for their anxiety and depression than for asthma? And ditto for an adult. In this era of transparency, where payer rate files (published in the name of each employer and thus engaging that employer's direct responsibility) are available, it's not difficult to count the number of network physicians and facilities in various specialties. And it's not difficult to compare rates paid. It's also not difficult to demand accountability from the health plan administrator for any differentials in prior authorization or utilization management between mental, behavioral and physical healthcare. In other words, it's not that difficult to determine if your health plan meets the Parity PACT. Unless you think your employees and their families deserve a lack of parity in access to and treatment for mental or behavioral health conditions relative to physical conditions, do the Parity PACT test. You may be unpleasantly surprised about what you find out. But that also means you will be able to fix it. And if we all do that, maybe we can reverse this disastrous trend. #parity, #mentalhealth, #behavioralhealth
