"Trust, but Verify" – Is Your HVAC Vendor Putting Your Science at Risk? One of our customers recently had an HVAC failure that put their science at risk. Temperatures in the animal housing rooms were going far too low during the night. The vendor insisted everything was working perfectly—display readings were “within range,” and the system was “operating as expected.” But our system told a different story. Our independent sensors (with FDA-compliant data) showed that temperatures and humidity were far from the expected values. It’s not uncommon that customers request to have a temperature sensor installed next to the HVAC to verify if the display is accurate. The request often comes after months of “strange” fluctuations or results are not as expected. A lot of time gets lost… Our monitoring solution captured real-time temperature fluctuations that their system didn’t register. Armed with FDA-compliant data, the lab was able to prove the issue, hold the vendor accountable, and take corrective action before the scientific process was compromised. How We Saved a Major Biotech Company from Freezer Failure We recently helped a customer who accidentally left a -20℃ freezer door open late at night. The incident occurred while the user was still in the building, but they missed the initial alarm and remained unaware of the situation. After three attempts to reach the emergency contacts, SafetyNet managed to reach one of the emergency contacts on the customer’s list and woke them up in the middle of the night to notify them about the open freezer door that was causing the unit’s temperature to go above the upper limits. Alarms escalated to our SafetyNet team of 24/7 live monitoring agents. By that time, the temperature had climbed dangerously to -3℃, which is far above the acceptable range of -25℃ to -15℃. The Response Timeline: 10:53 PM – Initial alarm triggered by the XiltriX system, automated alert escalation begins. 11:09 - 11:25 PM – SafetyNet makes multiple calls, leaving voicemails for emergency contacts. 11:25 PM – A contact finally answers, wakes up, and alerts a nearby colleague. 11:44 PM – Freezer door is confirmed closed, preventing asset loss.
