We are proud to announce MaryBeth ("Beth") Gonzales has been appointed as Xiente's Chief Operating Officer (COO)! This strategic addition to the executive team marks a significant milestone in Xiente’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and innovation. As COO, Gonzales will work closely with the leadership team to execute the agency's strategic vision, foster a culture of excellence, and lead Xiente into its next phase of growth. She will oversee day-to-day operations and be instrumental in supporting staff to fulfill Xiente's mission, while helping the agency gain efficiencies that ensure objectives translate to capabilities aligned with agency targets. Furthermore, Gonzales will play a key role in fostering stronger connections throughout the community and country, while ensuring cultural imperatives are communicated and supported operationally across the agency. Throughout her career, Gonzales has worked extensively in the areas of homelessness and housing, behavioral health, equity, research, grant writing, board development, leadership and organizational development. She most recently served as the Deputy Director of Policy, Planning and Performance Management at the Office of Homeless Services for the City of Philadelphia. Prior to that, Gonzales was director of public sector leadership development at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. Gonzales has worked with government and nonprofit agencies in NYC, Philadelphia, DC, California and Texas. She has designed eviction prevention, housing, literacy, youth, entrepreneurship and workforce development programs; operated family homeless shelters and supportive housing programs, and counseled people to break the cycle of homelessness, domestic violence, and assisted those returning from the federal prison system transition to home. Gonzales holds a BA from Howard University, an MA in Counseling Psychology, and an MPA in Nonprofit Management and Policy from New York University. She serves on multiple nonprofit boards, is a special advisor for several initiatives addressing poverty and displacement, and is part of a national expert panel studying federal housing programs. Recently named a 2025 Presidential Leadership Scholar, she will participate in a six-month program to learn from the leadership experiences of former U.S. presidents. Gonzales plans to apply this knowledge to enhance both Xiente and Philadelphia. Gonzales stated “I’m honored to be Xiente’s Chief Operating Officer. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the board and team to drive operational excellence, optimize processes, innovate, and expand. Together, we will build on the agency’s strong foundation as we deliver exceptional service that helps us uplift one another and achieve prosperity for all.” Please join us in celebrating Beth Gonzales and this incredible milestone for Xiente!

Since July 2021, LISC Philadelphia and six members of the Latino Equitable Development Collective (LEDC) have been collaborating to tackle The Family Stability Challenge, an opportunity from The Promise PHL, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and the City of Philadelphia. Our partners include Ceiba, Xiente, Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Esperanza, HACE and Asociacion Puertorriquenos en Marcha.? ? ?? Millions of dollars in public benefits and tax credits are left on the table each year by residents who don’t know they are eligible, or don’t know where to get connected; the Family Stability Challenge has aimed to address this problem. Critical benefits include nutrition programs like SNAP and WIC, housing benefits to help cover energy bills and rent, Medicaid and social security, valuable tax credits like the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit, services like Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, housing counseling, childcare, legal aid – and much more.? ? With $3.5 million invested over the past three years from The Promise, the LEDC has connected more than 37,000 people and their families to 60,000 benefits, services, and tax credits valued at $12 million.??? ? Through a place-based, collective service delivery model, the LEDC network ensures that residents can walk into any door and have access to the spectrum of services provided by all 6 agencies. LISC is supporting the collaborative as a co-convener and data backbone, providing tools and training for data collection and inter-agency client service referrals.? ? Thanks Daniel Jackson for the great photo.?
