I had the privilege of directing operations for both the Bottom Feeder and VB-10,000 under the leadership and guidance of Jon Khatchataurian. His innovations set the standard in offshore heavy lifting, and I’m proud to have been able to work for him and now carry that legacy forward as the vessels new owner. 14 years ago when I entered the decommissioning industry I noticed this cool looking lift boat, the VB10,000, on a magazine cover. I wondered if I would ever get the opportunity to work on a project where she was used. Today I watched as she headed into dry dock for some maintenance before working on the boomerang assets for bp.
