XEC welcomes the state of Mississippi to Coverage Map ?? Recently, XEC successfully completed the Mississippi licensing process, clearing the way for us to commence operations in the state. We are eager to be a part of the advancement and betterment of infrastructure throughout The Magnolia State!

This Saturday, January 18th, our 2024 summer intern, Brock Kluempers, takes the field for the Central Washington University Wildcats in their season opener against the University of British Columbia. We’re wishing Brock and his team the best of luck and a healthy, successful rugby season! ?? Brock is as impressive off the field as he is on it. During his internship at XEC, he stood out not only for his work ethic and attention to detail but also for his insightful reflections in our Intern Spotlight series. Here are a few highlights from his interview: Q1: What made you feel like part of the team at XEC, even as an intern? A1: From day one, I was trusted with responsibilities that allowed me to represent the company. That trust fostered personal growth and made me feel like part of a team that genuinely cares for one another—both in and out of the office. Q2: How would you describe XEC’s company culture? Was it what you expected? A2: Having construction experience before, I expected the stereotypical hardheaded welcome. I was quickly proven wrong and realized XEC takes pride in its modernized culture. A good culture’s foundation starts with good people that want to buy in and set standards. Q3: How did working at a mission-critical construction company shape your perspective? A3: This internship experience has opened my eyes to the possibilities of the construction industry. I was entranced with learning the complexity of this type of work and what procedures were needed. Before this opportunity, I had no idea what mission-critical construction was, and I’m happy I followed my curiosity. Good luck this season, Brock. At XEC we’re thankful for any opportunity to give back to the community. Recently, we teamed up team with Endless Outdoors for a day of volunteering. We enjoyed rolling up our sleeves and embracing the hard work for a great cause. A big thank you to Endless Outdoors team for making this possible! If you aren’t familiar with what they do, check them out. Nick Christianson and his team are focused on making a positive impact on local kids of the community and leading them into the world of the great outdoors. We wish Nick and his team all the best!

Over the weekend XEC took part in a local Adventure Race. From trekking forest and fields, biking dirt trails, to canoeing, the teams were tested on their endurance, navigation, and problem-solving skills. A big thank you to the organizers of the event. XEC had a great time at the AFCOM Greater Kansas City event yesterday! It was a fantastic networking opportunity, and raised funds for local STEM initiatives through ASTEAM VILLAGE INC. XEC’s Matt Buckley Takes on the Ironman in Copenhagen! ??♂???♂? ??♂? This Sunday at 7:00 AM CET (12:00 AM CST), our very own Matt Buckley will be taking on one of the most grueling endurance events in the world—the Ironman in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Ironman consists of a 3.8 km (2.46 mi) swim, followed by a 180 km (111.85 mi) bike ride, and capped off with a 42.2 km (26.22 mi) marathon run. Competitors have 15 hours and 45 minutes to conquer this incredible challenge. We’re all cheering for you, Matt—may you have a strong, successful race! ?? ?? Exclusive Interview with Matt Buckley: Q1) What’s your goal for the race? A1) My ultimate goal is simply to finish. Any extra minutes I beat the cutoff time by will be a bonus. This race is truly a test of willpower. Q2) What’s been the most unexpected challenge during training? A2) Balancing work and training has been tough. Traveling for work made it challenging to find affordable swimming and biking facilities. I hadn’t anticipated this before signing up. Q3) Aside from the Ironman, what do you have planned for the trip? A3) My only plan is to complete the Ironman. Other than that, I’ve been exploring and seeing what catches my eye. After the race, I’ll probably *hobble* around and let the adventure find me. Q4) What are you most looking forward to about doing the Ironman abroad? A4) I’m excited to experience a new place! It’s my first time in Europe, so I’m eager to take part in and experience the cultural differences. Q5) What’s something you’re embarrassed to admit about your training? A5) During a long bike ride, I had a flat tire 15 miles from home. Stranded without a spare, I called a few friends and received nothing but voicemails. Luckily, David Garcia IV was in town and came to my rescue, saving me from a long, defeated walk home. Q6) If you could pick someone from the office to do the Ironman with you, who would it be and why? A6) I’d go with Michael Clifford. He’s proven to have speed in short distance runs, but I'd like to see how long that lasts over longer distance.
