Our trip to the University of Michigan last week was incredibly productive and inspiring! We had the pleasure of meeting with multiple departments within the Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences—University of Michigan and were amazed by the groundbreaking work happening in the labs there. It was also a privilege to engage with so many talented students eager to shape the future of clean energy. We were impressed by their passion and curiosity—exactly the qualities we’re looking for as we continue to grow our team and develop inertial fusion energy technology. A special thank you to Ryan McBride and Nick Jordan in the Plasma, Pulsed Power, and Microwave Lab (PPML), Stephen Raiman in the Materials in High Temperature Extreme Environments Lab, Kevin Field in the Ion Beam Lab, John Foster and the Plasma Science and Technology Lab, and John Nees in the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science (CUOS) for the hospitality and sharing your incredible work with us. And thank you to the students who joined us for talks and at the NERS Career Fair. We’re excited about the potential collaborations and the opportunity to bring more bright minds into Xcimer through our Summer Internship Program and full-time roles. Our journey to powering a greener, more sustainable world through inertial fusion technology continues, and we can’t wait to see where our connections with U of M take us! ?? Internship applications are open NOW through 12/31/2024! ?? Powering a better world with inertial fusion
关于我们
Xcimer Energy believes that abundant energy creates a world where anything is possible. From climate change, to national security, to energy justice, fusion will give us the tools we need to address global challenges and lead to a cleaner, safer, more prosperous world for all humanity. Xcimer Energy is developing a system based on laser inertial confinement fusion, which is the only fusion approach that has achieved scientific breakeven. The Xcimer team will leverage this achievement and the significant progress made by the laser fusion community to advance IFE. Xcimer’s mission is to create a better and more equitable world through economically attractive, abundant, and carbon-free fusion energy enabled by a dramatic reduction in laser cost, enabling game-changing simplifications to the design of a laser fusion power plant. Xcimer has assembled a team of experts from U.S. national laboratories, academic institutions, and private industry to work together toward this mission. Abundant and inexpensive fusion power will transform how the world thinks about energy. The scientific, engineering, and manufacturing Xcimer’s plant design enables can spark a broad expansion of the U.S. industrial and workforce base, especially in high-value technologies like electrical power, optics, and precision manufacturing, and present a once-in-a-generation opportunity to ensure the benefits of this expansion flow equitably and inclusively to the entire nation.

Nuclear Engineer | Pioneering Fusion Leadership | Advancing Plant Concepts Towards Practical Fusion Power
Last week DOE announced Xcimer Energy Corporation as one of their INFUSE awards recipients bolstering public-private partnerships for fusion. Xcimer's continued growth into delivering key laser, chamber and target technologies is strongly supported by our pilot plant efforts to make fusion energy a reality. As PI in this project, its a real honor to work with long time partners Brenda L. Garcia-Diaz Luke Olson George Larsen and team at Savannah River National Laboratory to scale up development of fusion blanket and tritium technologies to the next step!

What a week it was for Xcimer! On the heels of our $100 million Series A raise, we have more exciting news to share - last week we signed our award agreement with the Department of Energy (DOE) in the Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program. We’re one of just eight companies selected by DOE to receive funding for meeting milestones in the first 18 months of a five-year program for private-sector-led teams to develop comprehensive designs for a fusion pilot plant. Our CEO, Conner Galloway and VP of Chamber and Plant Design, Susana Reyes were on-site at the White House to mark this momentous event. We’re now on the cusp of harnessing the potential of fusion energy to bring this power source to the world. To get there, forging public-private partnerships will be instrumental. We can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Read more about the program here: https://lnkd.in/ewrVyjdZ #fusionenergy
