In today’s fast-paced healthcare environment, Patient Observation Assistants (POAs) are essential for ensuring patient safety and care continuity. These dedicated team members play a crucial role in monitoring patients who need extra attention, offering support, and ensuring quick responses to any changes in their condition. Whether they’re providing comfort to patients at risk of falls, assisting with those who may be disoriented, or simply offering companionship during vulnerable moments, POAs are an extension of our care teams — eyes and ears on the front lines of patient safety. Over the years, Hispanic trailblazers have played a pivotal role in shaping the U.S. medical landscape, contributing to advancements in patient care and innovation: https://lnkd.in/gx3VhvaV One area where their contributions are especially significant, though often overlooked, is in Environmental Services (EVS) within hospitals. EVS teams are essential in maintaining cleanliness, infection control, and safety, all of which directly affect patient outcomes. Many of these dedicated professionals come from Hispanic backgrounds, and their work is vital to the smooth functioning of healthcare facilities. Representation in Healthcare: According to a 2021 Pew Research Center analysis, 9% of healthcare practitioners and technicians in the U.S. are Hispanic. Xanitos Workforce: Currently, 33% of Xanitos' employees identify as Hispanic or Latino. Hispanic workers make up a substantial portion of the EVS workforce in hospitals nationwide. Their commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety reflects the strong work ethic and family values they bring from their communities. Their contributions are fundamental to creating a safe and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.
