With #XPRIZEWildfire, we work with diverse partners to ensure we are collaborating to address the grand challenge of destructive wildfires. It’s crucial for us to work with wildland managers, firefighters, government sectors, and traditional land owners in order to tackle this pressing problem. XPRIZE Wildfire team Snuffed is bringing engineers, scientists, firefighting and fire management experts, students, and private sector industry professionals together to develop technology that will help end destructive wildfires. “The main goal is to detect fires before they become big, catastrophic wildfires and cause lots of damage, injury, death, property loss, insurance loss, and so on.” - David Trilling, Chair of NAU’s Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science and Snuffed Team Lead Learn more about the team and their work in this article here. ?? https://lnkd.in/ggrc5xM7

Did you know that we make 30 billion metric tons of concrete every year? ??Concrete is one of the most used materials on Earth—and one of the largest contributors to CO2 emissions. But, XPRIZE alumni team CarbonBuilt is changing the game with its revolutionary solution. CarbonBuilt, one of two grand prize winners of the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE, is able to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete by more than 50% through its groundbreaking technology. “We were able to raise a Series A round very quickly and I think just having that validation from XPRIZE was able to convince investors that our technology was worth betting on. It kind of opened a lot of doors for us to get the funding we needed to build out our team and really commit to building a business.” - Camly Tran, Ph.D., Head of Operations at CarbonBuilt Learn more about how CarbonBuilt’s innovative, low-carbon concrete is set to reshape construction and the planet's future in this episode of XPRIZE Innovators. https://lnkd.in/gMbTj3my
