Tackling the Threat of Orphan Methane Wells A recent ABC News investigation sheds light on the growing issue of Zombie wells, which are abandoned oil and gas wells that are leaking methane and toxic chemicals. These wells are contaminating water, harming air quality, and contributing to climate change. Out of 76 wells tested across five states, 40 were found to be leaking. With 3.5 million abandoned wells across the U.S. and millions of Americans living near these risks, the need for action is urgent. We are dedicated to addressing this critical problem by working on effective methane abatement solutions and supporting efforts to clean up orphan wells.
