How can we increase the number of women in leadership positions? What if we reimagined the way we live and work and created systems that were equitable for people across the gender spectrum? Kristin Meek —WYLD’s founder, mother, writer, artist, and executive coach—sat down with Authority Magazine and talked about just that. She also shared her story, how her perspective about success changed over time, and how mentorship isn’t just nice to have; it’s essential. We need each other now and always. Who has championed you, and when was the last time you thanked them? Click the link below to check out the full article. https://lnkd.in/eUjXVZGD

We talk about nature like it’s separate from us, but it is us. We’re a part of it. Just like the collaboration and communication amongst trees provide nutrients needed to survive and flourish, taking time to be outdoors nourishes us. No matter the location, all of WYLD’s retreats and workshops have the wisdom of nature woven into them. And by far, some of our most meaningful experiences with teams have been outdoors, feet in the grass, curious, and willing to see themselves in a new light. Video Source: The Sacred Science

Here’s a snapshot from a recent executive retreat WYLD hosted in Los Angeles. We start with agreements, creating a container of psychological safety. We weave in nature, science, art, ancient wisdom, experiential learning, writing prompts, recognition, and flip charts full of innovative ideas. As facilitators and coaches, we’re also partners in learning, and each moment reveals something we didn't notice before. A highlight of this experience was the breathtaking power of recognition. At the beginning of the retreat, each person was secretly given the name of someone they’d give a recognition toast to at our final dinner. And yes, you should save this post and do this with your team. We promise it will be one of their favorite things. What happened in those toasts was moving. The noisy restaurant felt quiet as each person spoke without notes, just heart. If you create a container to express how the people you work, live, and partner with uniquely impact your life, it will surprise you. It’s transformative. And now we’re curious. Who recognized you in a way that you’ll never forget? Tell us in the comments. And If you haven’t felt recognized lately, know this: there are people your magic touches daily. Love, WYLD

Craving time to slow down? Join us this Wednesday at 7:30 PM ET for our next WYLD Gathering where we will be talking about love and the power of story to shape our experience. Get all the details and to sign up here: https://lnkd.in/e96Dzjv5 Still curious about what a WYLD Gathering entails? Gatherings are 50-minute virtual sessions that blend soulful wisdom and science-based teaching where we bring our favorite tools from coaching and development workshops to you. We start with data-backed research from global thought leaders because, in the age of information, we know how important it is to share ideas from sources you can trust. And we know that learning information is valuable, but applying it to your life is transformational. This is why the second half of every session is part guided meditation and part self-reflection through journaling. And the best part.. you're not on camera! So come cozy and really soak it in. We can’t wait to see you there. You are more loved than you know.

Everyone with a life story has a love story. Our stories create the lens through which we see what’s possible for us to be, have, and experience. And we have the power to rewrite them. We get to re-imagine how we see ourselves, our partnerships, our work, and our communities. We get to liberate ourselves by writing a new love story. Each time we gather, we grow. At WYLD’s January Intention Setting Gathering — a 60-minute virtual workshop that is part science-based teaching and part meditation and journaling led by Samantha Kennelly and Chelsea Gentry— we got still enough to hear the wisdom that is always present. This January gathering was designed to address the pressures of the“shoulds” that might creep in at the beginning of a new year (“I should be moving at warp speed toward my next goal”) and getting clear on crafting intentions for the year ahead. This session guided attendees through a transformative process of deep listening and receiving guidance from the wisdom within. ?? Swipe to hear from some of the folks who made it live. ?? If you missed it, we've got you. The replay is available for a limited time. Comment with the word "Intention" and we’ll send you all of the details to purchase and dig in. Stay tuned for information about the next gathering!

Stress Scientist, Advisor, Speaker | Former Medical School Professor

For the last several years, Elissa Epel and I have been working a new integrative model of how our bodies respond to stress and why we are so easily exhausted - that due to the intense levels of stress in modern life, we are depleting our finite energy in order to stay in a high stress state all the time. We propose a way to counteract this – by spending time in a physiological state we term ‘deep rest’ which supports nervous system regulation and cellular healing. We are thrilled that these ideas are now published in a top tier psychology journal Psychological Review: https://lnkd.in/ghtvVM-w Our scientific theory of stress resilience and stress recovery, called Deep Rest, explains that in order to combat the stress of modern life, we must find ways to feel safe and shift to a parasympathetic dominant state (the physiological state of deep rest). We argue that this can be done through contemplative practices like yoga and meditation, and in other ways like sensory-based practices (cooking! gardening!) that allow for our bodies to perceive safety signals. The answer to combating the stress of modern life? Spending time each day in the state of deep rest, to regulate our nervous system and engage restorative biology. This paper represents the culmination of many years of academic work at University of California, San Francisco. About a year ago I transitioned out of my life as a professor, largely because I found running my own research lab to be completely at odds with trying to be an engaged, happy mom to my three kids. While it was definitely the right decision, I do miss my research group Elissa Epel Wendy Berry Mendes Aric Prather (among many others!). Since starting my new chapter, I have found my plate full with meaningful projects bringing my passion for stress science out of the lab and into the real world, thanks to Eve Ekman, Kristin Gregory Meek, Melissa Bernstein. Now you can find me doing what I love most – teaching individuals, teams, and product developers about the latest science of stress, so we can all be empowered to live with less stress, more ease, and greater wholeness. Reach out if you'd like to talk more about stress or the concepts of deep rest in our paper! Would love to discuss.
