One of the first steps in transforming a place is imagining what it could be. When WXY developed renderings for the rezoning of Governors Island, we helped lay the groundwork for a bold vision that's now becoming reality with The New York Climate Exchange. Led by Stony Brook University, in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Georgia Institute of Technology, Pace University, Pratt Institute, the University of Washington, IBM, and Good Old Lower East Side, Inc. (GOLES), this $700 million initiative will be a global model for climate innovation. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is leading the team, bringing their expertise to advance the next phase of the project. We're proud to say our work helped shape the beginning of the conversation. Now, with a world-class team in place, this vision can move forward and turn renderings into reality.

What helps define WXY? A commitment to the built environment, a belief in the power of public space, and a practice that blends architecture, planning, and policy. Our work spans everything from reshaping waterfronts to reimagining schools, from designing structures to crafting strategies. At the heart of our approach is a simple idea. Design starts with listening. Conversations can bring about the most innovative ideas, and then we can help make them real. See what drives us. #architecture #design #urbanplanning

We believe those who care for us deserve the chance to care for themselves. Healthcare workers navigate long shifts, high-stress environments, and constantly shifting demands. Yet the design of many hospital spaces fails to empower their well-being. In collaboration with NYC Health + Hospitals / Gotham Health, we designed wellness rooms that provide hospital staff a place to restore, reflect, and recharge. From modular seating for quiet conversations to calming colors, every design choice was made with intentionality and empathy because supporting healthcare workers takes more than policies, it takes creating dedicated spaces. With the fourth and final wellness room for Gotham Health, Morrisania completed, we’re proud to say we've played a role in a system-wide effort to bring 20 wellness rooms to staff across NYC Health + Hospital campuses. A hospital’s strength is measured by its ability to heal patients and how it supports those who do the healing. #architecture #wellness #hospitaldesign

The next phase is here! WXY is thrilled to continue our work with the town of New Milford, Connecticut, bringing our 2020 Riverfront Renewal Plan to life. The Housatonic River has long been an untapped asset for the town. With a design that strengthens connections between the river and the historic Town Center, we’re helping to shape a waterfront that is as dynamic and welcoming as the community itself. We’re grateful for the partnership of the Riverfront Revitalization Committee and the Town Council in advancing this vision, alongside the leadership of our founding principal, Claire Weisz, and the expertise of associate principal and director of urban design, David Vega-Barachowitz, whose insights have been integral to the project’s success. Exciting times ahead! We love seeing our principal, Adam Lubinsky, share his personal perspective on New Milford’s riverfront transformation.
Principal/Partner, WXY and Interim Director, Columbia University GSAPP Real Estate Development Program,
Many years ago, I spent several summers at a camp in New Milford, Connecticut. The town had a movie theater, a beautiful town common, and a great main street close to the Housatonic river. It still does. But the town doesn't really connect to the river. It never occurred to me that years later I'd be back working with the Town of New Milford to help make the riverfront a special place. WXY created an initial concept plan in 2020, and we are coming back in 2025 to develop a more detailed design. Get the full story: https://lnkd.in/eSvJzXJg

Storm King Art Center has always been a special place, a living landscape where artists can push the boundaries of their work, and visitors can engage with monumental artwork in nature. At WXY, we're thrilled to further this vision alongside heneghan peng architects, Reed Hilderbrand LLC Landscape Architecture, Gustafson Porter + Bowman, and the entire Storm King team. Together, we've reimagined how visitors experience this extraordinary site. Executive Director Nora Lawrence puts it best in her recent interview with the Observer: "The vision to offer a more seamless and engaging experience for visitors and create more space for artwork gave rise to much of the work that's been done." A huge thank you to the WXY team led by founding principal Claire Weisz, including Asher Intebi, RA and Layng Pew, RA AIA, for their dedication to this project. We're excited to see visitors explore these new spaces this spring and for Storm King to continue evolving as a living landscape for artists and audiences alike.
