  • ??Level Up Your Space: How Gamification Keeps People Hooked (and Spending)?? Picture this: You step into a bar, an exhibit, or even a waiting room. You planned to stay for ten minutes - just a quick drink, a glance around. But something happens. Suddenly, an hour has passed. Maybe two. And, of course, your wallet is a little lighter than when you walked in. That’s the magic of gamification. The best part? It’s not magic at all. It’s human psychology, just used very cleverly. In this week's Campfire (both early and late), experiential game designer Sandesh Somani (The Great Escape Game) will reveal how the smartest venues, events, and experiences are built to make people stay longer, engage deeper, and - yes - spend more. He’ll perform a deep dive on his ‘immersive puzzle bar’ Haunted Hound, which boosted F&B sales by 300% despite comparatively low-budget gamification. By breaking down the psychology of play and the irresistible pull of interactive spaces, we'll explore why the best-designed experiences don’t just entertain people - they immerse them. Together, we’ll discuss: ?????Cohesion - how to make your space slick and elegant. ?????Human psychology - computer systems aren’t the only thing we can hack. ?????Simplicity and efficacy - how to maximize your experience with min spend. This isn’t just about building games. It’s about gaming the system - turning any real-world space into something people can’t tear themselves away from. Join us, take notes, and by the end, you’ll know how to hack human behavior and level up your experience design. Game on. See you there. ?? Link to RSVP in comments (only accessible to WXO members)

"Phantom Peak is a living, breathing example of the?Experience Economy?in action,” said?James Wallman,?WXO founder and CEO. “Not only is it an amazing immersive experience for an intergenerational audience, it is a financially-successful operation that shows how experiences can be as profitable as they are awe-inspiring.” “We are delighted to welcome the World Experience Organisation back to Phantom Peak”, said?Nick Moran, co-founder of Phantom Peak. “Phantom Peak is where it all started for the World Experience Summit and we can’t wait to welcome back old friends as well as meet the new ones the WXO’s fast-growing event is attracting”. • ?? Live, Laugh, LARP: Putting the Audience at the Heart of the Story ?? Long before the Experience Economy was a buzzword, Live-Action Roleplaying (LARP) was already delivering some of the most intensely immersive, interactive, and emotionally engaging experiences on the planet. Imagine stepping into a world where every choice you make shapes the story in real time. No passive spectators, no pre-scripted rails - just you, a character of your own making, physically interacting with the space, the players, and the unfolding narrative. And this isn’t just a niche pursuit- it’s big business. Twin Mask, a fantasy-based ‘blockbuster LARP’ near LA, welcomes 600+ players per weekend across eight annual events at the Koroneburg Renaissance Fairground. With a $70 ticket price and minimal overheads, this is a commercial success as much as a creative one. So, what’s the secret sauce? And what can experience designers, brand builders, and storytellers learn from LARP’s ability to create compelling, audience-driven narratives? Join Emmett Furey, an experienced LARP storyteller, as he breaks down a recent storyline and helps us explore: ?? How LARP turns passive audiences into active co-creators ?? The hidden power of non-player characters (NPCs) in shaping the narrative ?? Why official ‘moderators’ are essential in freeform storytelling ? What happens when the story isn’t just told - but lived? In a world where immersive storytelling is becoming the holy grail for brands, entertainment, and live experiences, could the future of engagement be hidden in LARP’s age-old magic? Bring your curiosity, questions, and imagination to this interactive campfire session, running across both time slots & exclusively for WXO members. ?? If you’re designing experiences and NOT thinking like a LARP game master, you might be missing the biggest trick of all.

  • ??Business Model Magic Trick: Turn Your Experience Into A Thriving Business?? Join us by the Campfire as our CEO, James Wallman, grabs the talking stick. Every great experience is built on two things: magic and money. But too often, creators pour their souls into making something extraordinary - only to struggle with making it work financially. This week’s Campfire is about changing that. We’re going to use the Business Model Canvas to map out how our experiences actually work as businesses. This means looking at: - How you create value (What’s the magic you’re making?) - How you deliver value (Who are the key partners and activities that make it happen?) - How you capture value (Where does the money come from?) ??
