Ben Affleck's take on AI's likely impact on film and TV here is super astute and, I think, analogous to its effect on design and innovation. Yes, it will radically streamline some parts of the process, like visual effects in film and ideation or visualisation in design, but it doesn't change everything. Without wanting to underplay the blow being dealt to some disciplines, we can safely drop the AI hype/doom-mongering. We shouldn't give too much credence to the techies, who know more about weighting LLMs than how the world actually works – and who need to flog AI transformation promises to justify their inflated stock valuations. Mimicking and blending past creations that humans have committed to words, code and imagery is one thing. Actually, understanding a context in full, making astute judgements based on a vision of a future that is yet to exist and crafting something that will resonate with a certain set of people with distinct, nuanced and implicit tastes, well, that's another thing entirely. That said, Affleck's point at the end of the clip about AI enabling new forms, solutions, and even markets that we are yet to imagine would be transformational — as well as inspiring and job-creating. As part of the Electric XR cooperative with Be Electric Studios, we're now able to offer our virtual production (XR) services at a cost effective price point. We're excited to be able to offer the technology to both our own clients, as well as other production companies and agencies as a true SOLUTION to creative and budgetary challenges. Whether we're recreating the inside of a Red Lobster, or using our mobile wild wall as a backdrop for tabletop, we see virtual production as technology that should make productions smoother and more efficient -- not intimidating, expensive, or complicated. We're pumped to have veteran producer Thomas Rossano leading the charge as EP / Head of Biz Dev, DP/DIT/Colorist Keith Putnam as our in-house Technical Director, along with the team at Be Electric lead by Andrew Stern.
