We deliver flood risk management, navigation, environmental stewardship, emergency operations and civil works.

关于我们

We are responsible for maintaining and improving 355 miles of the Mississippi River main channel from Cairo, Illinois, to the mouth of the White River. We also maintain over 640 miles of mainline levees along the Mississippi River and its tributaries, 8 inland harbors and 254 miles of navigation channel on the White River in Arkansas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is one of the world’s premier public engineering, design, and construction management agencies. We serve the American people, striving to provide the most effective engineering and environmental science solutions to the nation’s complex problems affecting national security, the economy, and the environment in which we live. USACE manages four program areas that include civil works, military construction, real estate, and research and development. USACE is a key player in all aspects of coastal/water resources engineering, construction, flood control, navigation, disaster response, and military construction activities. In support of other programs, we hire large numbers of environmental science professionals, biologists, physical scientists, geologists, hydrologists, and others.

The ceremony brought together local and federal partners in a show of unity as they planted flags on the village green to symbolize resiliency and the community’s commitment to rebuilding after the wildfires. • Teamwork, partnership, and collaboration are vital components of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ 250 years of success, providing engineering solutions for America. Members of the Regional Channel Improvement Team; consisting of Memphis, Vicksburg, and New Orleans Districts; collaborated at this year’s Regional Channel Improvement Engineer (E) Action Meeting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the LSU Center for River Studies. This team collaborates annually to keep the Mississippi River open for commercial barge traffic, keep the side channel intact to protect levee integrity, and to accomplish this while practicing environmental stewardship. The first day’s topics of discussion included updates on mat sinking, dredging, the Lower Mississippi River Comprehensive Study, current stone contracts, the mat loading study, cost per square, and recapitalization efforts. The team also toured the LSU River Model. The second day consisted of a tour of the Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors Shipyard which consist of two construction yards, a repair facility and machine shop, and four dry docks. This important collaborative meeting allows the regional team to collectively understand and act on critical priorities, funding allocations, and requirements that change from year to year. #memphisdistrictwinning

  • Project Update | St. Johns Outlet Scour Repair Our Project Managers and their Project Delivery Teams (PDT) are “Killing It”, until they’re not, and “Not” is just about non-existent around here. Results keep coming in Hot! One project coming in Hot is Senior Project Manager Zach Cook’s St. Johns Outlet Scour Repairs project, near New Madrid, Missouri. It is placing stone to protect the outlet control structure and bayou from erosion and scouring due to the interior drainage and Mississippi River backwater effects. This is part of our maintenance efforts to maintain the Mississippi River and Tributaries Project, ensuring the continued reliability of our flood risk management system in the valley. The project is currently achieving its defined goals, meeting all requirements, and the PDT is on track to safely deliver the project within the agreed-upon time frame and budget, while also maintaining quality standards and meeting stakeholder expectations. As always, we very much appreciate our project partners—the St. Johns Levee and Drainage District and Contractor partner Tarpan Construction, LLC. #memphisdistrictwinning
