Andrew Goldman and I welcomed the powerhouse that is Laura Luckenbaugh to our #ProducingForFilm class at NYU Tisch School of the Arts this week - these students got to hear a model of passion, dedication to craft and work as well as generosity and achievement in one person! As Director of International Programming at AMC Networks, Laura oversaw development, current series and international co-productions for their suite of networks, working on blockbusters series such as INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and the final season of BETTER CALL SAUL. We were all riveted. On a personal note, my superfan teenage son who got to discuss his favorite episode of that BCS season was impressed and dazzled hearing about her experience. (shoutout to my son, Theo, who really knows his stuff - budding story expert that he is)

Andrew Goldman and I are so grateful to Thomas Hayslip, master Producer. He brought his generosity and candor and AMAZING stories to our "Producing for Film" class at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. We love bringing all different kinds of producers to speak to our students and one rarely gets a chance to speak to producers of blockbusters. Also important to us was his story and background as a Vietnamese immigrant, his personal journey to the world and career of film, which began with #OliverStone optioning his mother's book, #Heaven, based on the recollections of #LeLyHayslip from the Vietnam War (or as it is called in Vietnam, "the American War, as I learned when I traveled to Vietnam so long ago). An incredible privilege of welcoming prominent guests to our class, is inspiring our students with the diversity and passion of our industry. We always speak about our desire to see this in every area of entertainment, behind and in front of the camera. What a joy!
