Our Country Director, Nalucha Bernadette Nganga Esq, our Chief Conservation Officer Moses Nyirenda, and Energy Programmes Lead, Eng Michael Sakala, participated in a Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on Green and Inclusive Approaches to Mineral-Based Development and Industrialisation in Ndola, Zambia. The workshop convened national stakeholders to discuss sustainable and inclusive mining practices that prioritise a greener future for Zambia and the protection of local ecosystems. Discussions highlighted the importance of aligning the critical minerals agenda with biodiversity conservation and the well-being of mining communities, as many critical minerals are located in biodiversity hotspots and Indigenous lands. With annual copper demand projected to reach 36.6 million tonnes by 2031, against a supply estimate of 30.1 million tonnes, sustainable approaches are vital to address this gap responsibly. WWF Zambia is proud to be a consortium partner with UNECA in implementing a critical mineral value chain project. #CriticalMineralsAgenda #Sustainability #CriticalMineralsAgenda #Sustainability #WWFZambia #ImagineLifeWithoutEnergy

In promoting sustainable livelihood options to enhance resilience to climate change and biodiversity loss, it is important to consider the different roles and responsibilities of men, women and underrepresented groups. Climate change affects our natural environment and can result in the loss of nature. This has different impacts on the lives and livelihoods of people according to how dependent they are on natural resources. #capainkaza #TogetherPossible #conservenaturewwf WWF-Kenya Wildlife Conservation Society International Institute for Sustainable Development

OUT NOW: New @WWF report showcases the power of Nature-based Solutions in freshwater & coastal ecosystems to drive climate adaptation. And calls for massive increase in investment in NbS to accelerate action. Watering Resilience: Case Studies of Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation in Action features diverse NbS that are being developed and implemented by WWF and partners in15 countries - ranging from reconnecting floodplains to recreating wetlands and restoring mangroves. And the aim: to show that NbS work, to help show decision makers that funding NbS is a good investment. And it is! Critically, these NbS not only help communities to adapt to the worsening - primarily water-related - impacts of climate change but they are also simultaneously helping to reverse nature loss. They are a win-win-win for people, nature and climate. Read more here: https://shorturl.at/JfZXG #COP29 #ClimateAdaptation #NbS4Adaptation
