Our ocean is reaching a dangerous tipping point. Marine heatwaves are fueling powerful storms, bleaching coral reefs, and putting life both below and above water in jeopardy. When the ocean is in trouble, we’re all #InHotWater. For decades, the ocean has absorbed much of the impact from fossil fuel emissions, protecting us from the harshest impacts of the climate crisis. But now, it’s reaching its limit. Coastal communities, marine ecosystems, and future generations are all at risk. It’s time to stop burning fossil fuels and make an urgent shift to renewable energy. The future of our ocean—and our planet—depends on it. #COP29 #ActForOurPlanet

Through the Coastal Community-based Conservation project, we're enhancing skills development on honey value addition to 21 from the RUMAKI Plus seascape, including the 4 districts of Mkuranga, Kibiti, Mafia, and Kilwa. 7 days of training were held at Mkuranga. The overall objective of the training was to strengthen the capacities of small honey processors for the development and expansion of sustainable nature-based enterprises and improve their livelihoods. The training was facilitated by a vibrant private sector technical team. The course covered topics such as honey processing, packaging, labeling, marketing skills, and key aspects of business operations. The trainees produced the following unique honey-based products during the training: beeswax skin care, lip balm, candles, honey soap, ginger honey, clove honey, and honey peanut butter. These are unique and safe products with many nutritional and medicinal benefits for consumers. #MACPIV?#WWFTanzania?#RUMAKIPlusseascape

The BMZ project has successfully conducted training for 25 rangeland committee members from four villages in EWMA (Olmolog, Tingatinga, Oldonyo, and Lerang’a). The training aimed to enhance rangeland health by equipping participants with the knowledge and tools for sustainable rangeland management practices. During the program, committee members developed tailored Rangeland Action Plans for each village. The training was complemented by a learning visit to Monduli, where committee members visited two key sites, Esilalei and Naitolia, to observe successful rangeland management practices. These sites showcased the use of half-moon technology, a water harvesting technique that restores degraded land and improves soil moisture retention. The activity included the preparation of four demonstration plots where community members, particularly women, actively participated in replanting grass seeds. These efforts complement the importance of community-led conservation. #soknotunganisha #bmzunganisha

Catastrophic nature loss is putting people and the planet at risk. Now that the Global Biodiversity Framework is established, it’s crucial for leaders to prioritise real, actionable change. Currently, we’re not on the right path. Only by reversing biodiversity loss by 2030 can we secure a better future for everyone. Share this post to #ActForOurPlanet and support the call for sustained, impactful progress at #COP16Colombia!?

The #NaturesTechnicians report launches today, spotlighting lesser-known species from mammals to insects that play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. These often overlooked species are vital in supporting ecosystem balance, from filtering water to pollinating crops. Take parrotfish, for instance. In marine reserves where they are protected, coral reefs are SIX TIMES more resilient to bleaching and other disturbances. This is just one example of how biodiversity helps sustain ecosystems. It’s clear that world leaders must take bold steps to #ActForOurPlanet at #COP16Colombia. #WWFUntangled The future of our planet depends on safeguarding this biodiversity: https://lnkd.in/gbTtzwYd??
