The Regional Intergovernmental Council (RIC) serves local governments within the four-county region of Boone, Clay, Kanawha and Putnam counties. The RIC is one of the 11 regional planning and development councils in West Virginia. The RIC provides an array of services supporting economic development, transportation planning and intergovernmental cooperation.
The RIC serves as the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Kanawha and Putnam counties in West Virginia.
The mission of the RIC is twofold: to provide a mechanism for managing regional planning and development matters and to provide resources and technical assistance to municipalities in Boone, Clay, Kanawha, and Putnam counties.
