The holidays are a special time to show our appreciation and gratitude for the many blessings bestowed upon us. President Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving an official national holiday in the midst of the Civil War, reminding us that we can find things to be thankful for even during the most difficult times.? Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season, a great time to enjoy time with family and friends. As you celebrate this year, remember to take care of yourselves and one another. Let’s use this Thanksgiving to reflect on all the things we have to be grateful for and recommit ourselves to taking the time to talk to one another and remember we have more in common that unites us.? To each and every Soldier, Airman, civilian, retiree, and veteran who make up our #OneGuard family, thank you. Thank you each for the devotion, dedication, strength, hope, and resilience that you bring to our organization each and every day. Originally from Clarksburg, WV, he currently resides in Saint Albans and serves as a 255A Port Security Assessment Team Lead for the United States Coast Guard conducting security and vulnerability assessments across the country. ?? Earlier today, a full delegation from the West Virginia National Guard and the State of West Virginia attended a formal signing ceremony and key leader engagement with Gen. Brigitte Onganoa, Minister of Defense, held at the Libreville's Ministry of Defense headquarters in Libreville, Gabon. The ceremony was held as part of a five-day trip to the Gabonese Republic marking the official launch of the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program relationship between West Virginia and the African nation.? The full American delegation was led by Vernell Trim FitzPatrick, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Gabonese Republic, Lt. Gen. John Brennan, Deputy Commander, United States Africa Command, and our very own Maj. Gen.Bill Crane, Adjutant General of the West Virginia National Guard. State of West Virginia representatives attending the ceremony included Dr. Christopher Martin, West Virginia University Global Health Program, West Virginia Cabinet Secretary Sherri Young, Department of Health and Human Resources, West Virginia Cabinet Secretary Sec. Cynthia Persily, Department of Human Services, and Mr. Mike Graney, Executive Director, West Virginia Department of Economic Development.
