Yesterday evening, Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld shared exciting updates on the Port of Baltimore and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport at the annual World Trade Center Institute’s State of the Ports event. Secretary Wiedefeld highlighted the Port’s progress, including increased truck processing, recovering cargo volumes, and the successful handling of double-stacked rail containers. He also celebrated Carnival Cruise Line’s new five-year contract.

World Trade Center Institute does it again with an incredible event, turnout, and panel at Maryland State of the Ports! The only complaint I have is that I couldn’t be at two breakout sessions at the same time but I witnessed a very impressive panel with Houston Mason Vicki Juel Isaksen Vaishali Patel moderated by Nexterus President Ryan Polakoff discussing the challenges, predictions, initiatives, complexities, and the unknowns in the logistics and supply chain world. Hearing from leaders in different industries was especially interesting and 2025 looks to be an exciting year, despite there still being uncertainties. As far as the event…. Great food, great people, great atmosphere and an overall great experience! Regretfully, I had to leave during the middle of the State of the Ports Address but I’m confident I’ll get feedback from my colleagues.
