We joined the #HandsOffHousing Rally demanding that DOGE stop their attempts to slash HUD staff and funding. Housing is a RIGHT and these cuts would only worsen the housing crisis.

This week, WSFSSH had the privilege of touring the Fischer Senior Apartments as it takes shape! Located in the Bronx, this new 9-story building will provide 105 affordable homes for seniors, including 54 units for formerly homeless individuals. The building will feature over 4,000 sq ft of amenities to support residents. We’re excited to see this project progress and can’t wait for it to open its doors later this year! #WSFSSH

Thank you to LeadingAge New York for highlighting this critical advocacy! WSFSSH is incredibly proud of our Director of Advocacy, Eustacia Smith, for speaking at last week’s Housing budget hearing and pushing for the funding of affordable senior housing Resident Assistants in this year’s #NYBudget. Ensuring seniors have the support they need to age with dignity is a priority we’ll continue to fight for. Earlier this month we participated in the Supportive Housing Lobby Day where we met with Assembly Members and Senators on the Million Dollar Staircase to advocate alongside SHNNY for 3 key issues: 1️⃣ The Supportive Housing Modernization Act as part of the NYSSHP campaign. 2️⃣ An increase in HHAP (Homeless Housing Assistance Program) funding to $256 million, after HHAP ran out in just 4 months in 2024. 3️⃣ A 7.8% COLA for all human service workers under the Just Pay contract. Together, we’re pushing for meaningful change in supportive housing and human services. #WSFSSH #SupportiveHousing #Advocacy #HomelessnessPrevention #HumanServices #PublicPolicy

Earlier this month we joined Leading Age's Lobby Day where we focused on 3 key priorities: 1️⃣ Supporting the Affordable Independent Senior Housing Resident Assistant Program for essential services like social workers. 2️⃣ Restoring EQUAL grant funding for adult care facilities, allowing residents to direct spending. 3️⃣ Pushing for a $20/day increase to the SSP rate for ACF residents, unchanged since 2007. We met with Assembly Members, Senators and two working committees to discuss these issues, and joined the Housing Access Voucher Program rally for state-funded vouchers. WSFSSH is proud to be advocating for seniors and affordable housing and hope to see these changes be made in the near future. #WSFSSH #SeniorCare #Advocacy #AffordableHousing #Leadership #PublicPolicy #HousingAccess
