From 17-20 March, in the beautiful city of Copenhagen, WSDG Berlin, carrying the ADA-AMC legacy, will participate in the first joint annual meeting of the German and Danish Acoustical Societies, DEGA and DAS. WSDG's Tobias Behrens, Partner, Electrical Engineer and Wolfgang Ahnert will deliver a talk about two historical buildings from the late 1960s and early 70s – protected monuments with double-curved roof shells shaped as hyperbolic paraboloids (Hypar). These structures, designed by the Rügen-based structural engineer Ulrich Müther, have recently been revitalized after approximately 30 years of vacancy and decay. The talk, titled “On the Room Acoustics of Two Reactivated Hypar Shell Buildings in Magdeburg and Templin,” will explore the history, architecture, and room acoustics design of these buildings, as well as the achieved acoustical quality of each project. Kramer’s deep connection to Electric Lady Studios – the iconic New York recording space designed by WSDG co-founder John Storyk – played a key role in shaping La Roca’s design, ensuring an immersive and sonically superior environment. Designed to channel the spirit of its legendary predecessor, La Roca Power Studios has already welcomed top-tier artists such as AC/DC, Slash, Kiss, Gary Clark Jr., Def Leppard, and Anthrax. Depp’s visit underscores the studio’s growing reputation as a premier destination for world-class musicians.
