While we enter a season that traditionally is one full of gratitude and togetherness, we know that some of our neighbors this year are struggling to bring food to their holiday table. Rates of food insecurity in all five boroughs are at all-time highs, but the strength of community can ensure that every family, regardless of means, can experience the joy and celebration that makes this time of year so special. We at WSCAH are committed to providing 16,000 families this November with dignified access to a choice of healthy food. What began as a small distribution of 150 Thanksgiving turkeys has grown to support thousands across New York City. Yesterday, hundreds of millions of people voted in one of the fairest, most open elections in the history of this planet—with the clear knowledge that any election brings the turmoil of change. Many of our community are tired, scared, worried.?In our community’s time of need, WSCAH is here for you. ? For WSCAH, today is another Wednesday. Over 500 families will be at 86th street for food and we will be there. 200 families are receiving food in West Farms, Bronx, and we will get that food there. Almost 100 volunteers will be helping pack food with us across our locations. Our team of benefits enrollers will be here for the WSCAH community as they always are — listening, supporting, providing access. For 45 years our community has held strong, together, to support one another through political strife, war, terror, natural disaster, pandemic, economic turmoil, etc. We’re not going anywhere. ? Rachel Laibson, Chief Development and Communications Officer, and Rebecca Solheim, Director of Donor Engagement, had a great time attending an art exhibition at Fana’s flagship boutique in Soho! Poonam and Bobby Jain, owners of Fana, learned about WSCAH from their son, who attended a volunteer event with Trinity School. Fana will be launching a ‘Be Kind’ campaign later this year, with a portion of all sales of the limited edition Be Kind bangle benefiting WSCAH. We are grateful for the support of our community and the creation of a fruitful new partnership!
