Project Interior Designer at WSA - IIDA OHKY VP of Student Relations
What a privilege to host all of these great students! The energy and enthusiasm were contagious as we gathered to foster the growth of the next generation of design talent. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of an event that empowers and inspires these emerging designers, offering them opportunities to connect, learn, and grow as they prepare to shape the future of the industry.
What an incredible weekend at the 2024 IIDA OHKY Student Conference! ?? We had the honor of hosting 90 students from 19 universities, with guests from the Michigan, Gateway, and Wisconsin chapters. If you attended, drop a comment with your favorite part of the weekend! The conference kicked off on Thursday with a Design Charrette and an insightful session by Kaelynn Reid, Design Futurist at Kimball International, on the future of workplace amenities, both held at GBBN with special guest Michelle Boolton, MBA of the IIDA International Board. That evening, we gathered at RJE for a fun-filled social networking event, featuring headshots, icebreaker games, a neurodiversity in design station, and even some Cincinnati trivia! Friday was packed with engaging breakout sessions and panels, including Designing for a Circular Economy with Steelcase, The Power of You with Aaron Estabrook and OFS, Energizing Spaces with Momentum, The Future of Design with IIDA & CIDQ, and Minding Your Brand moderated by Cheryl Durst, CEO of IIDA. Students also had the chance to attend a Vendor and Firm Expo, connecting with industry professionals and learning about the latest innovations in design. A huge thank you to our generous sponsors, Cheryl Durst, Hon. FIIDA and Melissa Cook and to our amazing team of over 20 IIDA member volunteers across all 5 of our city centers for making this event possible.
