The Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi has identified the "mobility crisis" as the primary contributor to poor air quality in Delhi NCR. This crisis needs urgent focus on sustainable transport solutions including shifting the focus from motorization and road-building to investing in reliable public transport like buses and the metro, improving infrastructure for walking and cycling, promoting zero-emission mobility and enhancing last-mile connectivity. Let’s follow the "de-congest, de-motorize, de-carbonise" mantra and create a cleaner, healthier city for all. As #COP29 kicks off in Baku, it's crucial that we remember what's at stake in the finance negotiations. What are we paying for? The answer rings loud and clear from our ACT2025 partners: "This isn’t just about money; it’s about survival." From 1970-2019, a whopping 91% of recorded deaths from climate extremes occurred in developing countries. Many of these countries urgently need more, high-quality finance to successfully confront climate change. This is necessary, and not just for the people living in these countries. This isn't charity. It is in the long-term interest of every citizen of every country that the world collectively makes a low-carbon and resilient transition. That is the only way to open the doorway to a safe and prosperous future. Read the op-ed from Mohamed Adow of PowerShift Africa and of Felipe Arango of Transforma here: https://lnkd.in/gxsfSAtk
