The photos have come out for HousingWire's Housing Economic Summit! I think I can tell the story of this event in seven images. 1. For those who were there, how amazing was it to see Barry Habib looking healthy and killing it onstage? 2. The room was crowded the entire day. We love the George Bush Institute, but our one day summits might be outgrowing the venue. (Makenna Clay) 3. Our speakers killed it, highlighted by Logan Mohtashami, Brian Hale, Ryan McKeveny, CFA, Lisa Sturtevant, Victoria DeLuce, and Christy Soukhamneut. 4. The networking was incredible! 5. I love our team at HousingWire. This is me catching up with our OG Christi Lingard. Christi has been with the company for sixteen years. I also got to spend quality time with Samantha Stein, Jennifer Watson Laws, Adina Ritter, Dan Smokoska, Matthew Mauldin, and Coy Ashcraft. 6. Mike Simonsen and Sarah Wheeler were doing real-time research with our audience of housing executives. We'll publish more results in the coming weeks. 7. Clayton Collins and Brena Nath closed us out by thanking our wonderful event partners. Another big shout out to Xactus, Tavant, Polly, Silk Title Co., GridBase?, LodeStar, Dark Matter Technologies, INDECOMM, Texas Mortgage Bankers Association, and COMMUNITY HOME LENDERS OF AMERICA. ????Hot Topics at the #HousingEconomicSummit — market expectations and industry shifts are front and center. ?? Logan Mohtashami Lead Analyst at HousingWire predicts that “6% rates will be key ?? — finally unlocking demand.” (Mark Woodling agrees!) What’s your take? When do you see sub-6% rates coming? Key questions shaping the conversation: 1?? When will we see sub-6% mortgage rates? 2?? After 4 million home sales in 2024, what’s the forecast for 2025? 3?? After 4% price appreciation in 2024, what’s the 2025 outlook? 4?? The affordability crisis is real—will homes be more affordable in five years? 5?? How will recent CFPB, HUD, and FHA changes impact the market? 6?? Has the NAR settlement affected your business? #HousingWire #RealEstate #MortgageRates #HousingMarket #EconomicSummit

?? "Buying [homes] next year will likely reflect the old normal levels of unsold inventory across the country, which will have implications for pricing," said Mike Simonsen, Founder & President of Altos Research, on the outlook for #USHomeInventory during today's HousingWire #HousingEconomicSummit. #USHousing Market Insights for 2025: ?? Home sales are down slightly compared to last year, but inventory is up 28% nationwide—though distribution varies significantly by region. ?? Interest rates remain the biggest wildcard. When rates dropped near 6% in late 2024, sales jumped. But with rates hovering around 7% again, activity has slowed. ?? Pricing pressure is emerging. While Altos projects modest 3.5% price growth in 2025, some areas may see price compression if rates stay elevated. #FreshData #SFR #USRE #USHousing #HPI #MortgageRates #TheFed #HousingWire #2025 #RealEstate
