?? Help Boston's First Birth Center Find a New Home! The zoning board recently rejected proposed variances for Community Movement Commons' property in Roxbury - where Neighborhood Birth Center (Boston's first birth center) was to be the hub of this shared, one-of-a-kind community space. But this important project is far from over. The focus now is on working with the City of Boston to find a new home for the center—one that’s affordable, accessible, and built on community values. Neighborhood Birth Center will help ensure better birth outcomes and more choices for families in Eastern Massachusetts (only other birth center is hours away in Western MA). This shared space also will be home to local, grassroots nonprofits that are advancing social and economic justice through: - Organizing workers in domestic care and service industries; - training girls to build community and develop leadership skills; and, - supporting worker owned businesses that grow wealth for workers and their families and communities.
