Zebadiah Sprague has the distinction of being Wrecking Ball’s very first Star Employee, starting this month, September 2024! Zebadiah, a Foreman based out of our Spokane office, was nominated by multiple colleagues, all of whom had many wonderful things to say about him—too many in fact to fit into a single post. But the following quotes capture how much he is respected by everyone here at Wrecking Ball: “Zebadiah is exceptionally caring towards his team. He is highly communicative, promptly addressing any safety issues that may arise. His proactive approach and forward planning significantly contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. Known for asking 1001 questions, Zebadiah wants to understand the ‘why,’ not just the ‘how.’ He takes great pride in his work, cares deeply about his team, and happens to be a bit of a coffee snob, fitting right in with his colleagues on the west side of the mountains.” ?? The entire Wrecking Ball team, from both sides of the mountains, greatly appreciates Zebadiah’s work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership skills. We thank him for all his amazing contributions. Plus, he's got a whole lot of awesome moxie going on—and the style to match! This photo of Zebadiah is from our last holiday party. Lookin’ sharp, Zebadiah! #wreckingballdemo #wreckingballdemolition #wreckingballdemolitionnabatement #cleanersaferfaster #septemberstaremployee #awesomemployee #thankyouforallyourhardwork #leadership #safety #demolitionforeman #respect #sharpdressedman #luvscoffee #thankyou #lifeatwreckingball

Happy Friday, everyone! Today’s post is a bit longer than usual, but we hope you can take the time to watch the video and read the comments below, as this part of the demolition process is rarely explained. There’s a lot happening in this short clip! The video highlights why "CLEANER" and "SAFER" are two of the three words in our motto, showing an intentionally slower process as the excavator operator removes small remnants from the bottom of a pit dug by Wrecking Ball. You’ll notice that the bricks have been separated for future reuse in construction. If you look closely, you can see the materials being removed are waterlogged. The careful use of water throughout the demolition process helps control the heavy dust that often arises at outdoor demolition sites. In the background, to the left, you can see another team member in a crane basket, carefully overseeing the materials as they are being loaded into a 100-yard intermodal container with a weight limit of 25-28 tons. Because the debris is waterlogged, it’s crucial not to overload the container. The spotter in the crane visually assesses the weight of the materials, ensuring the container is only filled about halfway. Eventually, the container will be transported by train, and the materials will be safely disposed of in a landfill. This video perfectly exemplifies how we prioritize cleanliness and safety in every demolition project, no matter the size. One day, the site you see in this video will be transformed into a multi-level parking garage. Wrecking Ball Demo is clearing the way for progress. Thanks for reading and watching! Stay dry and safe this weekend—it looks like a wet one! #cleanersaferfaster #cleanerandsafer #wreckingballdemo #wreckingballdemolition #wreckingballdemoltionnabatement #excavatorinaction #craneinaction #intermodalcontainer #recycling #repurposing #clearingtheway #thewreckingballway #komatsuexcavators #keepingourenvironmentgreen

Dan Gagnon has worked for Wrecking Ball just shy of 10 years. Right on, Dan! Since joining us, he has shown dedication and an exceptional work ethic in everything he does. This sentiment is shared by all who have had the pleasure of working with Dan. For the month of August 2024, John Brotherton, our Director of Concrete Operations, specifically nominated Dan, sharing the following observations: “Over the years, Dan has demonstrated his commitment to the company through effective leadership, adaptability to change, and initiative to improve. Currently, he is working on a challenging project which involves cutting and removing vast amounts of concrete. The most challenging aspect of this job is its remote location, which presents many logistical issues. Dan continues to navigate these challenges with apparent ease. His stellar coordination and communication significantly enhance the overall quality of the job solidifying our ability to execute such projects. We appreciate Dan for all he does to keep the company moving forward.” Well stated, John B.! On behalf of the entire Wrecking Ball team, thank you, Dan, for all your hard work! #wreckingballdemo #wreckingballdemolition #wreckingballdemolitionnabatement #cleanersaferfaster #employeespotlight #exceptionalemployee?

Wrecking Ball continues its strong growth, now boasting offices in Everett, Tacoma, and Spokane, and we are now licensed to work in the state of Idaho. This job is for a global technology company based in Idaho. The job involves extensive concrete removal in a former clean room. Wrecking Ball has been tasked with carefully removing up to 12 inches of concrete covering over 8,000 square feet. After cutting the concrete, we use excavators and skid steers to stage the materials for removal by a trucking company. Once all the slab has been removed and the dirt excavated, exposing a 9-foot-tall underground chase, Wrecking Ball will cut 48 inches off the top of the wall that stretches over 300 linear feet. The materials will then be sliced, diced, and prepared for removal. If you’d like to learn more about our concrete cutting and removal division, please visit our website: https://lnkd.in/gn53Dz6A. As we get ready for another beautiful Pacific Northwest summer weekend, we wish each of you a safe and enjoyable time under the sunshine. And don’t forget your sunscreen! :) #wreckingballdemo #wreckingballdemolition #wreckingballdemolitionnabatement #concretecuttingandremoval #cleanersaferfaster

You can find asbestos in many environments beyond buildings and residential structures. For this job, we worked on a tugboat with pipes covered in asbestos and ceilings with Cement Asbestos Board (CAB). Adding to the unique challenges of the job, the tugboat had sunk near a marina in the San Juan Islands, remaining 30 feet underwater in salt water for nearly eight months. It was brought back up in June and carefully transported to a shipyard on the mainland. As part of the salvage process, Wrecking Ball was brought in to remove the asbestos and safely transport the contaminants to a secure location, away from people and the ecosystem. Our team of highly skilled experts, certified in abatement removal and with years of experience perfecting their craft, expertly removed the contaminants so the next phase of the salvage can begin. Hats off to our team for carefully working with harmful materials in a highly compromised space. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication! Cleaner. Safer. Faster. That’s us! #wreckingballdemo #wreckingballdemolition #wreckingballdemolitionnabatement #cleanersaferfaster #marineabatement #marinesalvage
