Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Giving Day has started!! From noon today until Thursday evening, you can make donations to HPRC. This is our biggest fundraising effort of the year and is amplified by matched donations and challenges. Last year, we earned over $14,000, which went towards component costs, travel costs, and other member activities. Your donations help keep our club running. Share our link with friends, family, and anyone willing to donate to help our students. If we have the largest amount of donors we earn an additional $2,000.?Even if it's just a $5 donation that still helps us out! Link: https://lnkd.in/ecpjekUy

关于我们
Established in 2018, our team builds a rocket every year to compete in university-level rocketry competitions. For the 2021-2022 school year, we will be competing in IREC. Our team not only builds the full rocket, but a robotic payload as well. We welcome WPI students of any major and members gain experience in mechanical design, electrical engineering, and software development. Follow us for updates on design and testing, as well as competitions and sponsor events.

Our LIFT Launch was a success reaching a peak apogee of 3,147 feet with a safe landing and retrieval of both the rocket and payload.?See down below for WPI HPRC's detailed results. Full Launch Results: On Sunday, November 17, 2024, the WPI High Power Rocketry Club successfully launched their LIFT rocket in St. Albans, VT, marking a significant milestone in the development of both the club's new members and previous projects. The LIFT rocket, built by the club's new members over the past year, was designed as a learning platform to explore and test new components, avionics, and recovery systems, as well as to refine the software and hardware developed for the 2024 Spaceport America Cup this past summer. Standing at 141 inches tall and weighing 60 pounds, the rocket utilized the club’s previous payload and avionics, enabling iteration from the lessons learned during the summer. The test flight allowed the team to assess critical systems in preparation for the upcoming International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). The rocket performed perfectly, reaching an altitude of 3,147 feet, with its airbrakes deploying as planned to control the apogee. Upon reaching apogee, the drogue parachute deployed to slow the descent. At 1,500 feet, the main parachute was deployed along with the payload shortly after. The goal of the payload was to test the controllability of a circular parachute. Both the rocket and the payload landed safely and were retrieved without damage. Telemetry systems onboard provided real-time data during the flight, offering valuable insights into the rocket's performance and aiding in recovery operations. The successful flight validated the new recovery design that the team intends to use at IREC in the summer of 2025. This successful test launch marks an important step toward achieving higher altitudes with complex payload missions.? #rocket #engineering #aerospace #wpi #2024

Our Preliminary Design Review has been completed. This event gives team members an opportunity to present technical progress that has been completed. Overall it was a successful few days in which designs, critiques, and improvements were shared. It also provides a chance to receive club feedback in a professional environment from those in HPRC, varying from members to subteam leads to execs. This helps prepare our members for a real world engineering setting that requires both technical and soft skills to thrive. #rocket #engineering #science #wpi
