WPDE ABC 15 News, is the ABC affiliate serving the Myrtle Beach/Florence South Carolina and Robeson/Scotland, NC market. WPDE is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. WPDE's main studio is located in the Atlantic Business Park in Conway near U.S. 501. ABC 15 News also maintains a bureau in Florence.

On Monday I was honored to make the trip up to NYC to receive a National #Murrow Award for the work Joshua Davis and I did when an artist spent days in a local nature preserve to paint in protest of encroaching development. It was truly a special night where so many amazing journalists were honored and I’m thankful Victoria Spechko and the WPDE TV 15 team allowed me to time to do this story right and to take time to honor our newsroom by accepting this award in person.

Beyond proud of Anchor Andrew James and Chief Photographer Josh Davis, and honored to be recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) with a National Edward R. Murrow award for Excellence in Video. The award-winning special report centers on a painter, Mary Edna Fraser, who illustrated a six-foot canvas to illuminate Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve and protest development. Congratulations to the WPDE Team!

I saw this WPDE TV 15 article about the Myrtle Beach International Airport - MYR (https://lnkd.in/eRfAqgfD). Loved the highlight that travel through the airport has increased from last year. MYR is one of the biggest strengths of the Grand Strand economy. It has helped Myrtle Beach become a premier destination. Easy to navigate, great customer service, and offers a lot of direct flight options. Creates the opportunity for the region to embrace the global community. One of my favorite presentations at Coastal Carolina University's annual Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit is when Kirk Lovell talked about the impact of aviation in the southeast. His presentation was right towards the end of the global COVID restrictions. One of the most memorable highlights from that presentation was that (at the time) people were more and more getting back out and traveling after the lockdowns. Leisure travel and destinations were on the rise. MYR did a great job at navigating the complex environment of COVID. As evidenced by the constant investment and growth in the airport. Just after adding terminals in the past couple of years, further investment is being made in adding MORE terminals. Let's not forget the concept the region is investing in of industry diversification. MYR is helping be a facilitator of those opportunities for people to easily access the Waccamaw region.
