In Togo, a small West African country with 8.9M people, there are only 9 ICU beds nationwide. ??World Telehealth Initiative (WTI) is helping launch a 5-bed ICU at El Elyon Hospital, which will be the largest in the country and boost national ICU capacity by 55.6%! ??El Elyon does not have trained ICU physicians or nurses on staff, as is often the case across Africa. ????????Through WTI’s program, volunteer specialists and ICU nurses are mentoring Togolese clinicians via telehealth, helping establish standards of care for the ICU, sharing protocols and upskilling staff to strengthen the local health system.??? #telemedicine #globalhealth #criticalcare
