??F5 Acquires LeakSignal (Acquired by F5) ?? ?? This acquisition fills important gaps - specifically around data in transit security within microservice architectures. This is important for their Distributed Cloud Platform that's based on microservices. There's even possibilities of using some of the tech within TMM. Additionally the tech leverages WASM, which F5 has been investing in – see their suborbital acquisition last year. ?? This pickup is another testament to F5’s focused approach on secure & flexible application delivery. Every acquisition is laser focused on elevating their technology – leading the way to ADC 3.0. ?? LeakSignal’s value prop is protecting data in transit real-time between applications inside micro service architectures - like service meshes. Conversely, traditional security tools focus on data at rest or on perimeter defenses. ?? LeakSignal's big differentiator is around their real time classification of data flows and their ability to block or redact sensitive data like credit card numbers, PII, or secrets. ??LeakSignal is inline within the service mesh - operating within each microservice’s communication path, giving the tech a unique vantage point. Competitors largely remain either at the perimeter or focused on static data. LeakSignal on the other hand offers inline, continuous oversight of data flows. ??Some insight around API Security - Traditional API security tools look for vulnerabilities, misuse, and external attacks on APIs. They help harden API endpoints, but they’re not primarily designed to inspect the content of API traffic for sensitive data leakage. LeakSignal's tech levels up traditional API security by classifying the data in API calls and responses in real time. Ex API security tools might catch an attacker probing an API, whereas LeakSignal would catch if an internal API unexpectedly returns credit card numbers or personal data. ??
