On Friday, we were notified by the U.S. Department of State that all federally funded activities providing initial resettlement support to 464 refugees we’re serving in Sacramento must stop, effective immediately. As a result, we now face a critical gap in funding for the provision of basic needs — including food, shelter, clothing and transportation. Refugee families in our very own communities are at risk of hunger and homelessness. And they need you to bridge the gap. Your donations, prayers, and voices can keep hope alive for these families. Let’s rally together to make sure our newest neighbors feel supported, not abandoned. Learn more, donate, and find other helpful resources by visiting https://lnkd.in/gSqRZRep

As Christians, we are committed to upholding the dignity of every human life, as made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This fundamental belief compels us to address one of the most pressing moral issues of our time: the forced displacement of people. We are grateful for President Trump’s commitment to ensuring that our nation’s borders are strong and secure. We also appreciate and affirm his recent call to ensure systems so that immigrants “with love for the country” are able “to come in legally.” In 2017, in President Trump’s first week of his first term in office, he issued an executive order revising the ceiling for refugee admissions at least 50,000, and we urge him to once again set the ceiling for refugee admissions at that level or higher, consistent with his commitments both to secure borders and to religious liberty and opportunity for all. We invite you to add your voice to the plea for justice, support, and hope for those displaced. Learn more and sign the statement by visiting https://lnkd.in/gTqe5Ed6

While administrations may change, our calling remains. The need remains. Our determination to work tirelessly toward a world where families in vulnerable situations can rebuild full and flourishing lives, remains. President Elect Trump has promised that under his leadership on Day 1 he will halt all refugee arrivals to the United States. If enacted, these policies will alter the course of hundreds of thousands of lives and will be a tragic injustice for people who have fled conflict, persecution, and violence. We’re going to be doing all we can to fight against these changes and continue advocating for compassionate public policies guided by biblical principles. We have a bold and steadfast plan to continue in our mission in the midst of adversity. But make no mistake, we need your support. For over 35 years, we’ve been partnering with people like you to welcome our refugee and immigrant neighbors to Sacramento. Together, we’ve got work to do. Will you join us?
