Did you know that aviation accounts for 2.5% of global carbon emissions every year? But there's good news: sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) can reduce emissions by up to 85% when compared to conventional jet fuel! That's right, there are American-made biofuels being produced right now that are making air travel and our skies, cleaner. Learn more about how SAF is a game-changer for the aviation industry: https://lnkd.in/g5MBqB9G

The World Economic Forum provided a unique opportunity for the aviation industry to come together to review recent market developments and set actionable steps to advance key priorities. World Energy’s Kathleen Wight and Gene Gebolys joined fellow Airports of Tomorrow community members alongside c-suite representatives from aviation, energy and financing stakeholders, and government leaders at the event.

You’ve heard a lot about sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), but do you what all the hype is about? SAF is a cleaner-burning fuel made entirely of agricultural waste products. It can be blended with traditional jet fuel, which means it can be used in existing plane engines - no change to infrastructure needed! So, with SAF, air travel can get immediately cleaner all while providing new opportunities for the agricultural industry. Sounds like a pretty good deal to us. Taking place just down the road from where World Energy was launched, CEO Gene Gebolys, moderated the "Lab to Grid" session at MIT Energy Conference. The panel focused on advancing first-of-a-kind technologies in the commercial marketplace. As a SAF pioneer, Gene brought his lived experience to the conversation with panelists Melissa Zhang, Hannan H., and Supratim Das.

If you've joined us on a tour of our Paramount facility you know you get to see a lot of cool things. One of the coolest, by far, is the fuel burning demo where you can see the difference in how conventional jet fuel and sustainable aviation fuel burn. For those of you who haven't been lucky enough to don the PPE and join us on a tour, here's a video that shows how SAF emits fewer particulates, making it better for our skies and our health!

Wondering why there is not more #SAF available? Building a SAF production plant, regardless of its technology pathway, requires investment in the billions of dollars - that's right, not millions, but billions. Finding ways to finance and drive investment into SAF production will mean the difference between meeting 2030 demand and decarbonization goals or missing the mark by a wide margin. World Economic Forum's Airports of Tomorrow Group, partnering with Kearney has detailed the financing levers - public, private and blended finance options - that can open up the flow of capital into this space. My colleague Adam Klauber and I were happy to provide insights from World Energy, LLC. Definitely worth a read:

World Energy joined fellow The SAF Coalition members for SAF Hill Day today in Washington, DC to discuss the multisectoral role and benefits of #SustainableAviationFuel with lawmakers on Capitol Hill. We spent the day discussing how #SAF creates new markets for U.S. farmers, generates new jobs in rural communities and promotes American energy resilience and innovation. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), co-chair of the Senate SAF Caucus; Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), co-chair of the Senate SAF Caucus; and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, spoke at a reception for the SAF Coalition, where they discussed the extension of Section 45Z and the importance of SAF for agriculture across the United States. Scott Lewis, President, World Energy; David Bonine, Managing Director, United Airlines; Alison Graab, Executive Director, SAF Coalition
