  • ???Exciting Update: The Equality Model is now the Survivor Model!??? To better reflect our commitment to?centering the voices and experiences of survivors?in the fight to end exploitation in the sex trade, we are rebranding the?Equality Model?as the?Survivor Model. This change represents more than a new name—it’s a renewed focus on creating a world free from exploitation by addressing systemic issues and supporting survivors. The?Survivor Model?prioritizes: ??Decriminalizing individuals in prostitution?to protect their rights and safety. ??Holding exploiters accountable?by criminalizing those who purchase sex or profit from exploitation. ??Providing holistic support, such as housing, healthcare, education, and exit strategies, for individuals seeking to leave the sex trade. ??Increasing public education?to shift cultural attitudes, promote gender equality, and reduce stigma around exploitation. By amplifying the resilience of survivors and focusing on long-term solutions, we aim to drive real change and create a more just and equitable society.

  • Today is #GivingTuesday — a global day of giving back. This year, we invite you to stand with us and support the?WorldWE Survivor Training,?Advocacy, Networking, and Development (STAND) Fellowship Program, a unique initiative amplifying the voices of survivors of human trafficking to create change. This year we added a second cohort of 11 survivor leaders from across the country. Throughout 2024, STAND fellows published impactful op-eds and delivered powerful trainings to law enforcement, service providers, and policymakers in their states. • "Gaetz has repeatedly wielded his power to prey on the vulnerable and to manipulate a system meant to serve as a guardrail. His appointment — or even a serious confirmation hearing — would send the message that America no longer stands for justice or the rule of law." • “A page from one of Christopher Columbus’s journals said he could get more for nine and ten-year-old indigenous children than for horses. This is something that is not new.?The only difference is now, it has a name, which is human trafficking, but the exploitation has been happening since the very first point of contact.” - Jeri Moomaw Christopher Columbus has often been referred to as the “first trafficker." The context behind this is Columbus’s exploitation of indigenous women, men and children. Colonialism is deeply rooted in the development and perpetuation of the sex trade through the dehumanization of indigenous peoples and exploitation being a tool for control and imperialism.? #IndigenousPeoplesDay Watch the WorldWE Youth Coalition's webinar discussing the overrepresentation of Native people in the sex trade featuring Jeri here: https://lnkd.in/eux7ftkc

  • The Trafficking Survivors Relief Act of 2024 (TSRA) provides relief to trafficking survivors who have been unjustly criminalized because of their trafficking victimization. Yesterday, through the work of survivors and advocates, the TSRA was successfully passed in the House Judiciary Committee! We want to extend a special thank you to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Representative Russell Fry for their leadership as bill sponsors. You can amplify the voices of survivors like Lisa by contacting your U.S. House of Representatives to support the HR7137! Find your Representative at: https://lnkd.in/ebNbtHf

  • “This is a moment of reckoning, and in building of every one of these cases, we’re more inclined to not give a free pass to the powerful.” This week, the disturbing allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs stunned the world. WorldWE National Director, Lauren Hersh, sat down with the Los Angeles Times?to unpack the Combs indictment. For those of us who work to end sex trafficking, these horrific facts are not shocking. Every day in America, traffickers use their positions of power to intimidate, manipulate and cause?relentless?trauma to victims. This case underscores the importance of our efforts to change laws and improve lives. Our strategic approach is to legislate the?Equality Model throughout the US, making certain that those who exploit are held accountable, while simultaneously ensuring that victims receive comprehensive services, not criminal penalties. World Without Exploitation isn’t just a campaign – it’s a community of organizations and individuals who share a vision and seek to leverage our unique skills and different backgrounds in the fight to end human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Our movement was born of a series of conversations among sexual exploitation and trafficking survivors, human rights and gender justice advocates, artists, activists, and direct service providers.?World Without Exploitation was founded in 2016 by Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW), Demand Abolition, National Organization for Women NYC, Sanctuary for Families, Survivors for Solutions, and The Voices and Faces Project. Today, we are a coalition of 170 member organizations across the United States.

  • Today we honor?#worlddayagainsttraffickinginpersons.?This year’s theme, “leave no child behind” reminds us that the age of entry into prostitution is between 11-13 years old. However, after an 18th birthday those children who are groomed and trafficked turn into exploited adults. We recognize that trafficking does not disappear, it evolves and services as well as exit strategies are less and less accessible to trafficking victims after they turn 18. Just because a person in prostitution is an adult does not mean they were not coerced.
