关于我们

World Space Week (WSW), October 4-10 annually, is the biggest space event on Earth. Declared by the UN General Assembly in 1999, WSW has grown to over 16,000 events held in 83 countries. To join the celebration, or see what's planned near you, please visit www.worldspaceweek.org. WSW is open to all, with events held by schools, space agencies, aerospace companies, museums, astronomy clubs, and individuals. It is coordinated globally by World Space Week Association, a non-profit organization managed by an international volunteer Board of Directors and supported by voluntary donations.

Happy Women and Girls in Science Day! Every year, World Space Week brings space to communities around the world, creating moments of inspiration for girls everywhere. Through hands-on activities, events, and celebrations, they see that space is for them—not just as a dream, but as a future they can shape. These photos, captured during World Space Week celebrations across the globe, show the power of representation. When girls experience space, science, and exploration firsthand, they see what’s possible. And when they see it, they can be it. ?? How do we get more girls into STEM? By giving them opportunities to discover they already belong. #WomenInSTEM #GirlsInSTEM #WSWA #WorldSpaceWeek #STEMEducation #WSW2025 #LivinginSpace

Executive Director at World Space Week Association | Lawyer with experience in Satellite Industry | Champion of Governance, international cooperation and transformative leadership

The Reality of Volunteering – Leadership in Action One of my biggest takeaways from January? The importance of getting help. In any organization, success is never a solo effort. In the not-for-profit world, that support often comes in the form of volunteers—dedicated individuals who bring their time, skills, and energy to drive real impact. I’ve been on both sides. I’ve volunteered throughout my career, and now, at the World Space Week Association (WSWA), I see first-hand how mission-driven leadership relies on mobilizing people toward a shared goal. Organizations like WSWA thrive because of volunteers—people who show up not for personal gain, but for the belief that their contributions matter. For me, volunteering was never just about filling a gap—it was a strategic choice that shaped my leadership journey. ? I wanted to contribute to something bigger than myself – Leadership starts with service. The ability to make an impact, even in small ways, builds the foundation for greater influence. ? It was a way to learn and grow – Volunteering exposed me to new industries, networks, and skills, reinforcing that career growth doesn’t always come with a paycheck. ? It helped me build relationships – Some of the most valuable connections in my career started in spaces where people showed up, unpaid, simply because they cared. Those relationships are now part of my professional network. ? I wanted to understand what makes organizations work – Great leadership requires understanding what happens behind the scenes. Volunteering gave me insights into governance, decision-making, and mobilizing teams toward impact. But let’s be honest—volunteering isn’t always easy. ?? The Challenges: ?? Balancing time without feeling overwhelmed. ?? Knowing when to say no to unpaid work that doesn’t align with your growth. ?? Feeling like your contributions aren’t always valued. ? Why It’s Still Worth It: ? The right volunteer roles can be just as valuable as paid work experience ? It introduces you to mentors, collaborators, and unexpected opportunities ? Sometimes, the work that doesn’t pay in money pays in influence, leadership experience, and long-term career value. Leadership isn’t just about directing—it’s about service, strategy, and building communities that thrive. ?? Now, over to you: What’s one volunteer experience that shaped your career or perspective? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to hear your stories! ?? Now that you’re convinced, follow the World Space Week Association for updates on volunteer opportunities and how you can be part of something bigger. #Leadership #Volunteering #CareerGrowth #LessonsLearned #StrategicImpact #WorldSpaceWeek2025 #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma
