Carriers are already using vessels that run on green fuels, but these are still scarce & more expensive than fossil fuels. Global climate regulations are crucial to make green fuels viable & to boost investment in their production in order to reach #NetZero2050 ???? We have put forward a #GreenBalanceMechanism proposal to support this & our members are ready! #giveusachancetochange? The united voice of liner shipping, working to shape future growth of responsible, sustainable, safe and secure shipping
关于我们
The World Shipping Council provides a coordinated voice for the liner shipping industry in its work with policymakers and other industry groups with an interest in international transportation. The WSC and its member companies partner with governments and other stakeholders to collaborate on actionable solutions for some of the world's most challenging transportation problems. In particular, the World Shipping Council is working to reduce the industry's impact on the environment through new global regulations and international R&D into zero emission propulsion. The WSC also plays an active role in the development of programs that improve maritime security without impeding the free flow of commerce. The WSC also works with a broad range of stakeholders from the public and private sectors to advance policies and programs that will ensure adequate and efficient global transportation infrastructure capacity.

Being part of a diverse panel makes for a very rich experience! ?? "Shipping stitches communities together", Christer Lorentz ?pstad beautifully described our industry's role yesterday. And with that comes responsibility - it was humbling to hear about the lack of food security in Bermuda from Noelle A. Young, and how an extreme weather event that prevents ships from docking can mean no fresh produce in the stores after just a couple of days. Rakhi Kasat updated us all on global regulatory progress across climate, biodiversity, and ocean protection. On my part, I think many were surprised to hear about the work World Shipping Council and liner carriers are doing not just on decarbonisation, but to protect whales, prevent wildlife trafficking, and stop potentially invasive pests. ?? Thank you Simon Walmsley for bringing #shipping, #biodiversity and #decarbonization together in such an inspiring way at the #Ocean pavillion! #COP29 #netzero2050

Today marks one year since the Galaxy Leader vessel and its crew were taken hostage in the Red Sea. Sadly, the crew are still being held hostage today.?? As we reflect on the hardship these individuals have faced over the past 365 days, we stand in solidarity with their families, friends, and loved ones, who continue to wait for their safe return. Since 19 November 2023, there have been a further 106 attacks on commercial vessels and crew.
